-. Starting D looked great untill Kelsay and Edwards were subbed in for the second series.

-. Merriman looked great and very explosive.

-. O-line looked it's usual mess.

-. Fitz calling his own plays didn´t seem to add anything, rather take away.

-. Potter looks like the real deal.

-. David Clowney has potential if his hands are good (Reminded me of a certain SJ).

-. Lot's of talent amongst the DBs.

-. McKelvin; he is always so far off his receiver that he's nearly late or simply too late for the tackle; forget about making a play on the ball. I'm no fan of him.

So you just hate Kelsay I take it... He started the game not Anderson and had a real good first series.

I didn't pay attention to who was actually on the field for the first play, but when the announcers went through the starting line-ups they said Anderson. Said it again later in the game when he came back in (started, now is back on the field).

But they should be swapping out so much it doesn't really matter.

Kelsay did nothing. He played the first few snaps and looked as if he wasn't trying. Anderson came in and every play seemed to go away from him, but he looked fast in his pursuit. Merriman was by far the best DE of the night, blowing up several plays and drawing a holding call and nearly got a safety. Kyle Moore also looked great in the second half. Eddins looked ok but barely got any pressure. At this point I don't see how Kelsay makes the team over Kyle Moore.

Thigpen vs Young: They both threw awful but Young had an epic drive where he rushed for many 1st downs. Advantage: Young

WRs: Clowney made some mistakes. Graham didn't want to catch a pass over the middle, or else he just dropped it, but at least he looks fast. Easley was decent. Martin looked decent.

OL: Sam Young seemed to have some issues. I'd give the edge to Sanders. Jasper came in at LG the 2nd play of the 4th with a lot of intensity. First play he knocked the DTs helmet right off his head. He is a rock that can't be moved but is also pretty good on his feet.

Others: Brooks looked great at DB, his INT was pro. Chandler made the best catch. He may be the best receiver on the team. Dickerson looked good, but nobody can throw well enough to get him a reception...

The line looked good the first couple of series, and then we started getting pushed around quite easily on the Redskins scoring drive. Hopefully not a sign of poor conditioning but testing out defensive calls...

Yup. Kelsay and Moats did the first series, then Anderson and Morrison for the second. They swapped the two as a set while the "firsts" were playing.

Just watched the first drive again, and I stand corrected starting lineup was 94 99 95 90, instead of 93 (Anderson) seems Kelsay (90) got the start. With regards to fandom, last season aside, I'm certainly one of Kelsay' his critics. The feed showed Anderson as being in the starting line-up. Nevertheless I should have checked myself.

Looking at the second drive, it is Mark Anderson that is subbed in for Kelsay, that drive results in the Wilson fumble recovery.

Also Skins o-line made the gaps on the Williams\Wiliams side.

Also I wrote second drive, third drive is the one I meant (skipped the Wilson Fumble recovery in my count).

Third drive starting line-up is 94 95 99 90, but 88, 91 and 93 are all subbed in. TD was made with 93 in.

So.... I'll eat my words.

What I don't understand is why did Kelsay only stay in for 1 series? It needs to be determined if he's still capable of playing. Merriman was in for most of the first half, despite always playing at a high level. We KNOW Merriman can play. Why bother testing him while risking an injury?

Other notables: Danny Batten had a very nice blitz, Chris White made a great pass defence.

That game was such a deliberate train accident from the replacement refs to the players to the "never run, just run downfield spread offense" scheme...I'm not sure how anybody came away with judgements of who did well or not unless you spend your weeks analyzing game tape frame by frame. I watched that whole game and by its end, was convinced that there really was no plan. Just go play and run around a bit.

And that's fine. It's preseason. In fact, I'd hate to look stellar and all world in the preseason and come out flat in Week 1.

While I know Chan Gailey isn't big on statements and probably cares nothing whatsoever about them, it would have been nice for the fans to see the front four plant Griffin into the turf at least one play.

yeah, those collars make it look like some sore of cheap midget league knock-off left over from the 80s.

Why???

Who looked at that and "said, yeap, that's what these uniforms need, fake collar to accent the bright royal blue" ????

It looks like they're wearing rugby shirts underneath.

I was disappointed in Sheppard from what I saw. I thought he was to be a monster with our new defense as a run stopper.

Not sure what game you were watching, but from where I was sitting (my living room) Sheppard looked extremely solid. He was flying all over the field, seemed quick to diagnose plays, and did a fantastic job plugging gaps in run defense. I didn't notice him in coverage, however, but the skins didn't really throw the ball that much while the 1st unit defense was on the field. Furthermore, I was impressed with all three starting linebackers....especially Moats who was playing some good football (IMO).

Kelsay played more than 1 series. He alternated with Anderson on the right side and seemed to play well....especially holding up against the run.

I don't get this. 1st play he sealed his edge, forced the RB inside where he was tackled by Williams. Second play was away from him, but he pursued very well. RB was tackled quickly and he was a half second behind. Third play he was about two steps from the QB, but it was a quick pass; no time for the DE to get to the QB.

It's all perspective I guess. I was disappointed he wasn't tested more. Do you really think he should be on the field ahead of Anderson or Merriman?

Bell?

I think some of us were watching a different preseason game :)

I always knew some on this board were off in the Twilight Zone ...

Can't comment on the game yet because I still have to watch it ... but from what my brother and others report Brooks is the real thing and McKelvin can't play DB; Tyler needs to pack his bags; keeping Potter and Lindell is going to pay off and is worth losing a roster spot; Graham has more potential than many of us thought; and Stevie is definitely a top receiver in this league!

Well excuse the hell outta me for forgeting #77 is no longer Demetress Bell. Geech.

Merriman looked good, Mario looked fast on the second play he was in the back field as the ball moved......Why don't they just put Merriman on the strong side

as a the linebacker instead of moats or morrison

You knew he changed the spelling of his name but you didn't know what team he played for?

It was a fairly big deal when he left and drafted his replacement.

Probably a bigger deal in Buffalo than Anchorage. I don't have Ed Kilgore giving me updates every time I turn on the local news. Or bulldog or what ever his name is on the radio.

So I'm a casual fan. I admit I don't eat live and breath Bills news.

You thought it was hard to stay interested? I was watching on the internet and the video was 3 seconds behind the audio so as the players where getting set I would hear the announcer say" flag on the play." "incomplete." I am still waiting for the snap!

That was driving me crazy so I watched without audio.. It seems like it was fixed at the half.

Gilmore looked good, but was relatively un-tested. Got plastered by an OT on the Garcon touchdown, but that is to be expected....

Glenn got taken "to the woodshed" by Orakpo on the first play, but seemed to improve as the 1st quarter progressed.

T.J. Graham impessed with his improved route running ability (leading the Bills receivers 3 rec/37 yds), but was severely underthrown on one play in which he had his defender smoked by like 15-20 yards....underthrown by Thigpen and intercepted. Had another good play nullified (a reverse) consequent to a holding penalty from Clowney.

Nigel Bradham got some work with the 2nd and 3rd team at OLB. I wasn't impressed, although he did appear to make an impact in special teams.

Ron Brooks got a really nice interception, as he made a really nice play on an underthrown pass by Kirk Cousins. Solid game overall.

Zebrie Sanders played some at RT in the 4th quarter. I watched him closely, and wasn't completely disappointed. Seemed to hold his own (against 4th stringers)...particularly in pass protection.

Tank Carder played really well (IMO) as he seemed to be very active at ILB with the 2nd and 3rd team. He had one 15 yard face-masking penalty, but overall, I was really impressed with his play. Seems to be very quick getting from sideline to sideline and is a good hitter/tackler.

Mark Asper seemed pretty weak in his time at LG.

Potter was the MVP of the rookie class as he booted all three kickoffs through the endzone for a touchback. Two of them I think (but could be mistaken) he kicked right through the up-rights and into the stands.

Nice take. Tank Carder showed well off the snap. He got there quick. He stood out to me.

There was a play later in the 1st quarter, 3rd down with Grossman passing from around his own 3 yard line. Both DE's (Kelsay was LDE, Anderson RDE) rushed with one OLineman on them. Anderson was easily taken out of the play, while Kelsay rushed Grossman's pass and hit him as he threw the ball. And that situation is supposed to be Anderson's bread and butter!

I'm not on the Kelsay hate bandwagon. I think he's a solid DE that works his ass off. That doesn't mean I don't like having Anderson; I'm excited to see him play. But for now, I do believe that Kelsay deserves playing time in the rotation, especially early in downs. And as I said earlier in the thread, I think these guys will be rotating more based on situation, so "on the field ahead of" doesn't really factor into it.
