Makes no difference if you think the writer is credible, Thigpen is having a better training camp. He is also Chan Gailey's boy.

According to several different sources Young has made some nice throws but he is still struggling with the playbook

The Bills are not moving Young to #3, so its very possible he may be waived.

It sounds like Thigpen's brother-in-law started this rumor. Total BS.

Thigpen blows. He's not even an average NFL QB.

Young has had his issues but is by far a better athlete and a better NFL QB. He has a far better winning record (31-14) than even Fitz.

LET'S LET THE PRESEASON GAMES DETERMINE WHO THE BEST QB IS. My guess is that Young's athleticism alone will convince the Bills that he is the better backup QB option.

It all comes down to which player Nix or Gailey has more prior connections to

Ahem....cough....cough...Drayton Florence...cough...last years starter...cut...With Nix in SD...cough...Terrence McGee...still here but with 2nd team...cough...probably gonna be cut too...cough...cough...cough

Nobody is "close" to being waived prior to the first preseason game.

That being said, should, in the world of possibiliities, the Bills waive Young, they need somebody better than Thigpen.

Gailey was sending out Fitzpatrick with half an intact ribcage because he didn't have faith in Thigpen last year.

Vince Young battling for NFL future

By Kevin Patra |

Vince Young tumbled from budding superstar to fighting for a roster spot on the Buffalo Bills.

One of the greatest college football players of his generation, Young was chosen No. 3 overall in the 2006 NFL Draft. He was a Pro Bowl quarterback in 2009. Three years later he is in competition with Tyler Thigpen for the backup role with the Bills.

“Vince Young does have a future in the NFL but he has got to win the backup job this year,” Steve Wyche said Thursday morning on “NFL AM.” “I was speaking to Bills General Manager Buddy Nix, they are only keeping two quarterbacks and his battle is with Tyler Thigpen and he thinks it’s going to go down to the fourth (preseason) game.”

Young started three mostly forgettable games in Philadelphia last season for an injured Michael Vick, however he is reportedly struggling to pick up the Bills offense.

“His future is his past,” analyst Mark Kriegel said on the same “NFL AM” broadcast. “It’s such a steep fall that we’ve actually lost sight of it. This guy was a two-time Pro Bowler, a Rookie of the Year, he was supposed to be RG3.”

Of the 13 quarterbacks taken in the 2006 NFL Draft, only Jay Cutler is penciled in for a starting postion in 2012. Fellow 2006 draftee Brad Smith is slated to be a Wildcat quarterback and emergency passer, leaving Young to battle for his NFL future.

“If Vince Young doesn’t win this job that phone’s not ringing,” Wyche said. “It barely rang before Buffalo called.”

TERRIBLE Idea. -IF it's true. Chan Gailey is full of bad Ideas, but he usually saves those for his playcalling.

If it does go down, was Fitzy behind it??? Him and Thigs have been thick as thieves lately.

It'd be in Fitz's best interest if he was. The LAST thing Fitz wants is P.O'd fans screaming for VY after a string of his trademark interceptions.

Should something happen to Fitz, Thigpen doesn't give us the best chance to win. If he did, Chan would have put him in last year when Fitz was hurt.

Makes sense. -Thigpen is the best chance of maintaining the status quo in Orchard Park (losing) He is also the best chance Fitz has of holding onto his job.

You and caracara need to get together. Both of you have no problem drumming conspiracy theories to excuse away VY's issues.

Another year with Thigpen as the backup is a scary thought, but Young being released won't be that big of a surprise. Alot of people thought he would have all sorts of trouble picking up Chan Gailey's offense. There is no question, he has the best QB physical tools on the roster, but obviously physical tools have never been his problem. His problem has always been what is between the ears.

I don't see how this is such a surprise. Its either him or Thigpen, always has been, so one of them is getting the #2 job, the other is waived/released/cut/etc.

Young has the edge in physical ability/skills, where as Thigpen may have the edge in understanding and running the offence (mental advantage). Thigpen also has the experience with the offence since he was here last year.

I can't see either being cut until the very last cut day. The only way they cut one of the earlier is if one of the 2 has shown hands down that they are head and shoulders above the other, or one of them flat out can't run the the offence

Totally disagree, VY has never been an inside runner, he is good at scrambling, the wildcat requires a guy to be able to be a straight line runner and get tough yards, Id rather have BS do that than VY. I think Chan does too, since he has repeatedly said Brad is the 3rd QB

Yea well, apperantly you missed this article

"When you get a guy that's really great at something - and he's a great runner - it makes him exceptional and it makes him more difficult to defend, and it gives you a chance for more big plays," Lee said. "That's what we saw Sunday night. We're not discouraging that. It's something you can't coach."

In other words, VY is NOT on the verge of being cut. But he might be cut by the end of preseason. In other, other words: there's nothing new here.

The Bills website has Brad Smith listed under other on their website. It's not like Chan is the one updating the site daily. They're likely basing it on reps taken in camp. Also, "other" seems like the appropriate spot for a wildcat QB while the other two battle for the 2nd QB spot. Doubtful they keep 3.

"The quickly growing Rant Sports network will give you the opportunity to be your own writer, with your own personality, and settle for the best of the best sports minds on the internet today."

Perhaps they should "settle" on editing their own "writing"? Or settle on getting an editor? I honestly have no idea what they are trying to say here. Did he mean "not" settling? Why would we not settle...for the best of the best? Edit: Ah...I get it..."settle for ONLY". Still....crap. The first part of the sentence still doesn't fit with the second. Adding commas doesn't fix incoherent. :D

Or, is this the "everyone can write better than me, therefore, everyone is qualified" approach?

Not a very good effort on a "why you should have anything at all to do with us" page.

Sites like this is why we like wawrow, and tend to overlook his definciencies in other areas.

the writer has an absolute 50% chance of being correct. Its either Young or Thigpen so he picked one and sucked some people in to read his article.

rumor has it, the bills may win the coin toss and defer.
