Unfortunately yes. Nasa is afraid the microbes will contaminate the Martian soil in the presence of water. Ray Bradbury is smirking somewhere.

No you missed the point, some distant planet from a galaxy far away, billions of years ago, sent a probe to our earth and left behind some microbes that flourished. Idiot.

Theyve been pretty hard up for something dramatic, because thus far theres been a lot more smoke than fire after a lot of hype. Im really not holding my breath on this one

 

No disrespect, but I find it hard to image that anyone who has any idea of what Curiosity is, what it does, and how it got to where it is right this very minute could possibly think that anyone involved is "hard up for something dramatic."
