The women's beach volleyball uniforms have gone politically correct this year, with shorts and sleeved tops replacing the bikinis.

The move was made to respect the cultural beliefs of players from different countries and updates the dress code that has been in effect since the sport became a medal event in 1996.

The American women said they'll wear more clothing in London if it's cold during their night matches, but bikinis would've been their first choice because that's what they're used to wearing. Still, they unanimously applauded the relaxed dress code.

"We want women of all different religions to be able to play our sport," said Jennifer Kessy, "and to not be able to play because of the gear is not OK."

Very nicely written.

You realize that there is only one specific religion/culture that England is trying to appease.......right ?

They pay a lot of lip service to this idea of inclusion, but it’s a joke. As a satanist, I’m offended by the lack of bare breasts and the failure to televise the self-righteous being tortured and burned alive.

The Church of England, right... ;-) :-P

Jack, please tell him what he has won.

Because it will "offend other religions." <_<

Hmmmph, it's not like their being forced to play.

You don't like the wardrobe? Fine, don't play!

Well the best thing about the summer Olympics is ruined. My favorite summer Olympic memory was 04 I think when the bikini clad Kerry Walsh and Misty May win the gold and proceeded to jump into each others arms and roll around on the ground together.

As an avid spectator, wearing such restricting clothing is not good for the game. Just another pathetic attempt to end the USA Women's dominance. Now that the Clemens trial wrapped up.I recommend writing your Senator and complaining . perhaps they act before summer recess.Besides, the Brits should be more concerned about getting their teeth fixed.

Kate Middleton should make an impassioned plea to reinstate bikinis and then volunteer herself to play for the British team.

Anyone here complaining about womans volley ball uniforms- you do realize you can go to any San Francisco library and see completly naked woman for free? 24/7 all year? With a privacy screen?

SF=Bad!

Bet one doesn't have to travel that far to find a library with the same services. Heck, you can go to a library down the street... And if you want 24/7... Just park in the lot and jump on the WiFi connection.

It really had nothing to do with SF. It's just that people are acting like getting a little look at flesh is so hard. Come on is this 1957 and you went downtown wearing a trench coat to buy sleeze flims?

I don't care if the womans VB team wears Carhart coveralls.
