Rob's House
Can anyone explain the outrage? I'm a little late to the party so maybe I missed something, but it sounds like a couple of run-of-the-mill police shootings. I understand why any police shooting needs to be scrutinized & doesn't necessarily warrant the benefit of the doubt, but rioting & angrily protesting when your basic stance is "I'm not really sure what happened but there's a chance it could be really !@#$ed up, you know, unless it's not" seems like a pretty weak cause to rally around. Is this just people looking to relive the excitement of the Trayvon Martin case back when it was still a hate crime? In Dallas http://wap.myfoxdfw.com/w/main/story/68309643 In Anaheim http://m.ocregister.com/news/police-365157-shootings-officer.html
IDBillzFan
I think to some extent...and this is genuinely just me speculating because Anaheim is not what you'd consider a hotbed of cop hate, and the two guys shot were reportedly known gang members/drug dealers...is that the Latinos in Anaheim and the African-Americans/blacks/colored people/or what I like to call "people in Dallas" are out of work, out of money and out of prospects. When things are as bad as they've been, for as long as they've been, with no chance of improvement any time in the near future, it doesn't take a lot to set you off, and few people are as heavily impacted by this stagnant economy like minorities. So I don't think it's anti-police riots. It' something deeper. But I could be wrong. Things are just very desperate in this neck of the woods. Empty buildings, no work, high unemployment. Very sad. You don't pay attention to the facts of a story and turn it into some political babble. Here is the real reason for the riots, an excerpt form the linked article Earlier in the day, the Anaheim Police Association said that the Anaheim officer who fired a fatal shot at an unarmed man this weekend saw some kind of object in the man's waistband and feared it was a weapon. The association's account, and a $50 million lawsuit filed by the man's mother, offered new details about the shooting that killed 25-year-old Manuel Angel Diaz. An attorney for Diaz's mother said he was shot in the back, then fell to his knees and was shot again in the head. People are sick of unarmed citizens getting shot and killed by the police. It happens all the time here in San Diego county by the police and border patrol. And what is with defaming me with your tag line? One sentence misconstrued is supposed to be what I'm really like? Your delusional. Edited July 26, 2012 by Fan in San Diego

Fan in San Diego
How in the hell is that sentence "misconstrued?" Glad you asked. Have you ever said "Oh drop dead" or "Go to hell" or something like that. It isn't meant literally but figuratively meaning disapproval of the person or subject. God I can't believe I have to explain this, everyone is so literal. Like I really would wish that someone would die, far from it.
