Captain Hindsight
I did say that there are lines to be drawn and you are assumingly going way past those lines. I understand it is still a public space... If it becomes visable, or the audio is heard, then a line must be drawn and the person told to cease and desisit. We are dealing with a lot of what ifs here. In in the name of managing the resources, the institution has to take it case by case... Cross that bridge when they get there. The shields will cut the viewing area and help... That is a good thing to cut down on the busy bodies and the distractions. I just think some things shouldn't be done in a public library. A library is a place to learn, not jack off. I don't see any good reason why a person has a right to watch porn in public

I don't see any good reason why a person has a right to watch porn in public Oh my... Now we are talking about Jacking off. If somebody views something inappropiate... I am sure it is handled. The screens help to block the busy bodies. If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there... Does it make a sound? The article is totally misleading and reactionary. Disturbances are no doubt handled. There is always going to be somebody trying to bend the rules and that will get handled. There is always going to be somebody fixated on what somebody else is doing. It is a two-way street here. I don't see the shields promoting it... Just cuts down the angles... Heck, even on clean sites, you would think people would want the shields? How do you think it should be handled? Filters? Watching over everybody's shoulders? There are things they can do to mitigate the problem users and the people who are fixated on what others are viewing.
Wacka
The guys in the hazmat suits are busy cleaning out the **** (literally) out of the escalators at the BART and MUNI stations, to get to cleaning the computers in the Main Library. If they open their pants everyone on the floor will die from the stench. Oh my... Now we are talking about Jacking off. If somebody views something inappropiate... I am sure it is handled. People who bring their kids to the Main Library have to pass the 20-30 bums of both sexes that hang around the entrance first The kids books are on a separate floor.
