I feel compelled to praise Wegmans

I've heard the same. My sister has been a manager at Publix for as long as I can remember, and she says the same. And Publix is one of the better grocery chains I've been to (or least they can be, some are dumps).

I hear the same thing from folks in the grocery industry. Wegman's is consistently the leader that other chains emulate. Most of the common features of today's supermarkets: florists, pharmacies, prepared food sections, etc. were pioneered by Wegman's.

All the "perimeter" areas of a supermarket... That is where the money is made.

I moved to Charlotte last year and the number requested store in the area is Wegmans. No surprise since it seems like one out of every 10 people here are originally from Buffalo.

I literally have 10 grocery stores within two square miles of my community. None of them compare to Wegmans. That said a Publix is coming this fall just one mile away. Excited to see what they're all about.

Publix is a good place. I've don't really remember Wegman's so I can't compare the two but Publix has good chicken, subs, meats, sushi, and pretty good prices. The bakery's a good place too but it doesn't compare to the donuts up in Buffalo.

Try the Publix subs at their deli. Amazing.

Love Wegmans!!!! It's the first place we go on our football weekends. Drive right by the hotel and grab our **** at Wegmans first. Then stop in again the next day on our way to the game. Can't beat it...

When ever I come to BFLO, I shop for my elderly father. I know it sounds bizzare, but he likes Bimbo (no wisecracks) bread... Wallbash! They don't sell it at Wegman's... I find it at of all places @ Target! So much for "one shop, one stop" you pain in butt dad! Getting me back?

I guess I am no frills.

it is apparently hq'ed not to far from me in horsham, pa, and looking for products it doesn't appear to be in too many known grocery stores(ie. acme, giant, wegmans etc...) it is in walgreens, wal-marts and more 'discount centric' or smaller stores

Just basic bread! Don't know what he sees in it... Pronounced: Beembo... Actually, the ads and billboards have to make note of that since it is spelled Bimbo... LoL!

That is what I was gonna say too... It is near you in PA! It is national, my father loves it! LoL... I think Sara Lee is the parent?? Other big brands like Entemann's (which I believe is from NJ) are with them??

Not slacking Wegman's... We were alway's Bell's people... My mother worked for PJ Schmidt (distributor in BFLO).. Others in my family go back to the Loblaws days. The Bell's "bizzare" and international store was ahead of its time by decades... Wegman's was right there to run and have success with the ideas...

McKinley Rd. Wegmans is my tailgate stop before every Bills game. Beef on Weck, sub for halftime, a muffin for dessert.

I cannot tell you how difficult it is, after living in Buffalo for the last five years, to degrade myself to shopping at Price Choppers or Hannafords here in the Albany area. I totally plan on hitting up Wegmans during my pilgrimage to training camp this year.

I feel your pain. The Ghetto Chopper that I'm reduced to shopping at has nothing on Wegmans. Although, the beer selection is pretty OK. Not as good as my old Wegmans, but pretty OK.
