....lybob Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I'd never hate on Maybin - I hate on the people who picked him- remember he was suppose to be a DE, so a personnel guy thinks to himself "hey you know what would be a good idea lets pick a guy who's bulked up 25lbs, killed his speed, and is still 25lbs lighter than idea." oh and lets pass on a guy (Brian Orakpo) who'd be a perfect fit while we do it to show what geniuses we are.
Whites Bay Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Glenn-Levitre-Wood-Urbik-Hairston-(and maybe Chandler). No, I guess I'm not too worried about Aaron Maybin getting to Fitz anytime soon.
eball Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I won't believe it until Pat Moran reports he was busted at the Canadian border. And swears it on the lives of his children.
The Wiz Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I'm guessing it's a contract year for him since he is showing dedication.
eball Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I still remember Maybin being knocked on his ass by running backs during preseason. Rex Ryan is a tool, but he's no dummy when it comes to defense. Pretty sure he only plays Maybin on obvious passing downs, when he doesn't have to worry about anything else.

The Bills could've done that too. It's telling that Ryan found a way to get something out of Maybin while Jauron and Edwards could not. It tells you something about their relative coaching abilities. biglukes Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 The only thing the Jets will win with Maybin is maybe a pushup contest.

GG Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 No they couldn't. The Bills did not have a D that could afford the luxury of a guy running around loose. The Jets D carries Maybin. PTR That's basically the crux of it, although you have to wonder about the wisdom about keeping Batten/Eddins over Maybin. My guess is that he just wore out his welcome in the locker room and Gailey/Nix decided to make the move. I cannot see how on a pure football potential, the guys they kept had a higher upside than Maybin. Of course after the crap Maybin pulled in the game last year, I hope that in the opener Wood finishes what he started in training camp a few years back.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 The Bills could've done that too. It's telling that Ryan found a way to get something out of Maybin while Jauron and Edwards could not. It tells you something about their relative coaching abilities. It also tells you something about the relative depth on their teams. Jets had a solid defense without Maybin and had room for a gadget player who comes in on obvious passing downs and let 'er rip. The Bills were struggling to find any kind of a defense and did not have roster room for a defensive specialist.
Gugny Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Are Maybin threads going to continue on this site until he retires? Jesus. Move on. He's gone.
NoSaint Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Are Maybin threads going to continue on this site until he retires? Jesus. Move on. He's gone. regardless of his bills connection, hes still a bit of an interesting case to watch unfold.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Aaron "The Weeble" Maybin. Seriously, talk about top heavy...all its going to take is Fred Jackson to block low and Maybin goes spinning. Plus from everything I've heard/seen with Glenn, that man does not move unless he wants to move. As long as Glenn is somewhat in position for a block, Maybin goes nowhere but the ground.
eball Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 regardless of his bills connection, hes still a bit of an interesting case to watch unfold. I find it fascinating. I won't feel the slightest bit sorry for him if he flames out, since he's already pocketed millions. I really want to see the Bills knock him on his ass, repeatedly, on Sep. 9.

I really want to see the Bills knock him on his ass, repeatedly, on Sep. 9. The fact that he was drafted way too early (about 6 rounds too early) shouldn't be held against him, in my opinion. I don't think the guy stunk because he was lazy. He just had no business being a starter on an NFL defense. Especially a poorly coached NFL defense. I, too, hope the Bills knock the crap out of him, though.
Homey D. Clown Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I don't care how much he weighs, I don't think he's a quality LB. So he can rush around the edge, and maybe get a sack or 2 now that he's on the field 6-12 plays a game. I'll take a guy who can read offenses, cover tight ends, stuff the run, and not get blown up by Chicago RBs in the preseason. He's the Jets problem now and that's perfectly fine with me.
Mr. ChumChums Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Anyone have a side-by-side picture of Mario and Maybin? I think it'll be funny to see how big Mario looks next to him.

He actually played well last year and I think it was more of our old coaching staff not knowing how to utilize him.
