CSBill Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 If Landry Jones has a decent year, he won't be around to pick at 14. Regardless, the Bills won't be around to pick at 14 either, play-off teams pick much later. As for draft needs, let's see wait until, well at least training camp is over, and better yet, a few games into the season, to discuss it. At this point, I would say I have no idea what we will really need and what the draft offers as far a quality players. Sorry to be the "debbie Downer" here. How about drafting someone to play left guard? someone who actually has the arm length to open create space and keep d linemen out of our backfield. DUH trust me really, are you dogging Levitre??? . . . one of the least of our problems/needs . . . accept to resign him!
BringBackFlutie Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Did anyone notice how amazing Fitz was next year!? "Fitz has a 6-year extension, and while he's no slouch (60.5 % completions, 4,477 yards, 35 TD, 21 INT)"
BuffaloFan68 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I'd be happy with Landry Jones. Then again - IMO Levi Brown is better than Thigpen.
bearc012 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Landry's really got his work cut out for him this year with the suspension or transfer of three of his top four targets. Kameel Jackson is transferring to Texas A&M, Jaz Reynolds was suspended 7 games, and Trey Franks was suspended for the year. We'll really see what he's made of this year. I don't expect him to flourish. He lost steam last year with Broyles out but atleast had the aforementioned three plus Kenny Stills. This year, all he has is Stills (which is a big help), Dejuan Miller, and some inexperienced youth. Jaz Reynolds, in particular, was supposed to breakout this year.
John from Riverside Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 There is no way this team is picking 14th this next year......they are making the playoffs.... Better start looking at the 20's for what will be available there
BuffaloFan68 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 If they feel a franchise QB of the future is there (& still needed) then they will trade up (within reason).

Shamrock Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 (edited) DraftTek has the bills drafting #14, selecting http://www.drafttek.com/2013-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp Do you want me to change the Positional preferences? http://www.drafttek.com/teamneeds2012.asp Astro So the "other" suggestion from 14 is an underweight DT at 31? And on the PP thing we're all 9's here- WR, OLB are higher need, but do we get into a Conversation about drafting receiver that high and an OLB it's about how many downs they'll take? MikeSpeed Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Living in SC I follow the Gamecocks and not much of the other college teams. I'm an NFL guy at heart. So these before the season mock drafts are great for me! I get to know who to keep an eye on during the college season without a lot of effort. Thanks Astro, and all the other draft gurus out there, for doing the hard work and making my college scouting much easier!!!
Astrobot Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 (edited) A couple of months ago, I was given DraftTek's internal Big Board, which I put into an Excel file. Each time I read a new Big Board (WalterFootball, for example) or 2013 Mock Drafts, like Perloff's from Sports Illustrated , I'd go over the variances and move players up or down proportionally. Here is where everybody is right now. There are fewer juniors on mine than on most. I'll do this now and then because it makes college football-watching so much more enjoyable if you know who to watch. buffaloboyinATL Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Jackson Jeffcoat Texas 6'4" 250 DE43 OLB34 We have to draft Jackson Jeffcoat even if it is not a position of need. I liked Jim for the 3 years that we had him.
dhg Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Jackson Jeffcoat Texas 6'4" 250 DE43 OLB34 We have to draft Jackson Jeffcoat even if it is not a position of need. I liked Jim for the 3 years that we had him. Any relation?
Astrobot Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 Yep. Jackson is Jim's son. From Wiki: After retiring as a player, Jim Jeffcoat served as DE coach for the Cowboys, until 2005. Jim and his wife, Tammy, live outside of Plano, Texas with 4 children: twins Jackson (20) and Jacqueline (20), Jaren (22), and Jasmine (13). Jacqueline is a top basketball center recruit for the University of Oklahoma, while Jackson Jeffcoat chose the University of Texas for football after being an All-State DE at Plano West Senior High School and being considered one of top HS players nationwide. Jim currently owns an Allstate insurance agency. We'd be in good hands to pick his son.
flomoe Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Looks like Landry Jones will be available for us at 32.
HOUSE Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Excuse me, I am having a little bit of trouble talking draft. See you in 8 monthes
machine gun kelly Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 guys - things change as we get another year under the belt. let's focus on that after we celebrate a playoff run this year. Can't think about 13 draft now.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Like others have said in previous threads about the 2013 draft: "Will he still be there when we draft at #32?"
Mark Vader Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Thanks for the list Astrobot, always good to know who to keep an eye on during the college season.
