TSNBDSC Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 ... my wife has a DSL connection through Bell South ... if she doesn't access the internet after a certain time, she has to re-boot to access ( "page cannot be found" ) ... it's like how AOL boots you off ... is it a setting on her XP or at the server ? ... thanks and happy new year to all ... tom
Fezmid Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 That'd probably be a question to ask the service provider. If I recall correctly, Qwest had two levels of service - one "always on" and one that you had to reconnect to after a certain amount of time. You might be in the same boat, but it's impossible to tell. Call the provider and ask. CW
eSJayDee Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 It would be pretty easy to circumvent this 'feature'. The simplest would be just to leave your email client on & have it request emails every 5 minutes or so. If you're concerned about safety doing that, you could write a simple batch command or something that waited a few minutes then sent out a 'ping' request.
USMCBillsFan Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Man, I saw the thread title and thought there'd be a nice picture of Angelina Jolie or something.... Not the DSL's I was expecting....
