Mark VI Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Sam Adams Winter Lager. It's my substitute for water during this last week of vacation. I had some Yueling Amber for the first time this past week. Not bad. I like Killian better. My regular beer is Old Vienna or Labatt Blue. Any good Holiday beer I should be aware of ?

Pete Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Sierra Nevada Celebration is excellent and Harpoon Winter Warmer is a guilty pleasure of mine.
BillsFanNC Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 If I were still in Buffalo I'd definitely pick up some Flying Bison Skye Pilot Scotch Ale. It's delicious. You can pick up growlers at the brewery itself and I think Premier Gourmet on Delaware. You'll also find it on tap at some of the better bars in the area.
duey Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Sam Adams Winter Lager. It's my substitute for water during this last week of vacation. 185891 DING DING DING (CLANG CLANG CLANG!!!)!!! WE HAVE A WINNER! I love that stuff...that's some tasty brew right there.
ATBNG Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I like that Winterhook Ale an awful lot, but Sam is a fine choice. All and all, this is by far my favorite time of year for beer.

silvermike Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Anchor Steam had a great winter lager I tried - dark, full, just a little bitter. I only had one, so memory is a little fuzzy.

It can be purchased at "Beers of the World" in Rochester. 185932 Buffalo Tap Room has Flying Bison Beers on Tap. My friend takes home Growlers of Amber every time he stops for Wings. That is top shelf.
VABills Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Cold. 185952 Isn't everything cold up there this time of year?
IDBillzFan Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I generally don't wander outside of either Bass Ale or Gorden Biersch Marzen, but I happened upon some Becks Oktoberfest, and I must say, it is mighty tasty. Since I buy my beer 10 cases at a time, I've been drinking it for a month now and will continue to for...oh...another month.
BillsFanNC Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I just went downstairs and tapped a smoked robust porter that I brewed last month. I was inspired by an Alaskan Smoked Porter that a friend of mine brought back with him in September. Damn tasty stuff.
mead107 Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 killians, back to light beers on monday and the diet . just had christmas dinner with the wifes fam.,that is why i am on the computer taking a time out
Alaska Darin Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Alaskan Smoked Porter 185962 Brewer?
Turf Toejam Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Just picked up some Geary's Hampshire Winter Ale. Haven't scarfed any of it yet, but it's usually excellent stuff. Sam's Winter is a good standard too.
IDBillzFan Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Brewer? 185967 You're not a beer drinker...are you. Actually, Alaskan Amber is kinda tasty as well. But a beer from Juneau to you is probably like Corona to a Mexican.
