slothrop
Which CNN Headline story seems out of place? I hate corporate news! blzrul
Don't be slamming my guy Jerry. I really liked him.
KD in CA
Corporate? What's corporate about J. Orbach? He's been a well known performer on Broadway, movies and TV for decades. RIP Jerry.
blzrul
Nothing was corporate about him but I didn't see anything corporate in the other headlines either. The "NBC" tipped me off.
DC Tom
I think "Corporate News" was meant to apply to the media outlet, not the content of the stories themselves. That is...the corporate need of CNN to pander to the public encourages them to put Jerry Orbach's death (and Reggie White's, as I recall) at the same level as the Bengal Sea Catastrophe. Sorry for not being more clear (or clearer?). I am sure he was a great actor - but they always have to put "fluff" in the headlines. Are they afraid that they will make everyone too sad? You're right about the apparent need to always have a 'fluff' piece among the headlines, even if someone's death isn't quite fluff. But I wouldn't have been surprised if that line had been about Britney Spears' latest marriage, had that even occurred yesterday as well.
