Alphadawg7 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Right after Auburn won the championship, it seemed like Fairly would be a top three pick. I wanted him after that game. Now, he's been arrested for the 2nd time this offseason: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7977231/nick-fairley-detroit-lions-arrested-dui-charge-report-says While this is true, Dareus was the better choice, the facts are that Fairley was not even remotely part of the decision of who to take at #3. You might as well as say Nix made the right call choosing Dareus over whoever Mr Irrelevant was that year cuz he had about the same amount of chance of being chosen by Nix at 3 as Fairley did. Fairley was never a consideration at 3 for us where it was going to be Newton, Miller, or Dareus...whoever was still available. So can't really say he made the right choice if the guy was never one of the realistic choices.
bbb Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 I've changed the subject line, because everybody seems to be hung up on that.
Mark Long Beach Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 This is why Buddy wouldn't likely draft a guy like Fairley, Easley or Maybin, Coples etc. All guys that had relatively short spurts of production at college. I would only qualify this statement by saying that Buddy won't spend a HIGH draft pick on one of those guys. But a 4th for Easley? Still plausible. We spent a 3rd on TJ and his body of work is still shows more potential than actual production.
