One thing I noticed going to the HOF parade in Canton, is every time a US flag goes by, everyone stands. Around here in CNY, I can't remember seeing that happen. Sure they may for the first one to come through at the head of the parade, but that's it.
mead107 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Back from the weekend in Lake George. Now have to go get some flowers to plant. Need rewash the deck to get rid of all the pollen.
Beerball Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Happy Memorial Day everyone. PBS is airing a show today @ 2:30 & 5:30 that looks like it will be worth your time. "Now," he says, pausing to lean back in his chair as a peaceful smile descends on his face. "Isn’t this a holiday?"
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 (edited) I hate the term "happy" memorial day. It's just a pet peeve of mine. Memorial day is to honor dead servicemembers who sacrificed for us. Not much that is happy about that. Everyone have a thoughtful memorial day and appreciate and remember those who sacrificed for you to enjoy the American way of life Memorial day is one holiday that I don't want to be bastardized into something its not intended as being. Thanks for saying what I felt in a very well thought out manner. Also thanks to everyone who takes a moment amidst the celebrations to remember our fallen Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, and Coasties.
CowgirlsFan Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Guys I feel the same way. Today we do honor those who died and that isn't happy. It makes more sense to say Happy Veterans Day. That is the day we honor any one who served our country.
