drinkTHEkoolaid
Goldeneye was good, but wow did it spiral out of control quickly from there. agree 100% which is in my opinion why D Craig is so appreciated
major
Gatsby looks like a rental. The Skyfall trailer was a letdown. Just play the Bond theme and show a lot of action. Bond hasn't been the same since Roger Moore left. Long live Roger Moore!
Fan in Chicago
had to resurrect this thread as I think the latest Skyfall trailer totally ROCKS. The first I thought was rather lackluster but this one brings back memories of the brilliant Casino Royale: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/skyfall/trailers/
Reed83HOF
From what I have read and now saw in this new trailer, this might be the best Bond in a loooong time.

I've been a Bond fan all my life and seen every single one of them over the years...it's debatable whether CR was the best, but it was definitley my favorite. Whoever made the decision to take Bond in a more gritty, cavalier direction is a genius. The Skyfall trailers have my attention, that's for sure...can't wait! It seems like the current Bond's personality is inline with current preferences of leading men. The reason the second trailer got me excited was because they show tantalizing bits interspersed with some promising action sequences. QOS was a weak follow up to CR - choppy plot, poorly shot action and lackluster climax. Also, there has been much press about the Bourne movies being competitors to the Bond series (though I don't agree its an apples to apples comparison) and hence the Bond makers have an extra incentive to show how its done. All the better for us fans.

I think my love for the Bourne franchise, and also the way my love for this one has been rekindled since ditching Brosnan and going with a badass, has sort of shown me how much I love this genre. I'll throw something like "Taken", and maybe even the Transporter films into the mix...I geek out to these films pretty easily and they've all been great rides. I had really become disinterested in Bond with Brosnan running around, and now that I've done a 180 on it I'm really psyched for Skyfall. I just hope it's not in 3D lol. Reed83HOF
The cinematography in the Skyfall trailer is what makes this look like it should be something special, plus the story line is a traditional Bond one movie deal and seems to be very strong. The quality of actors in this movie is something that has been lacking for years. IIRC, Ralph Feinnes was wanted for his role because it was a complex part that only a strong actor could pull off; I am anxious to see the development of this character. From what I have read and saw thus far, this could rank up there with the greatest movies. My only complaints about CR is the long drawn out poker game (Bond does not play poker anyways) and; well yes Judi Dench is a great actress, I am over her portrayal of a distrusting, reverse-sexist 'M'. Each movie since Goldeneye she has just gotten more and more screen time and it takes away from the movie. Brosnan was part of some poor choices (The director of DAD and his crap CGI, Denise Richards, M was way too involved in TWINE, Boris in GE are a few). It was the right choice to take the franchise in a different direction after DAD. QOS could have been so much more if not for the writers strike. It felt like a normal action move and unBond-like.
