Ennjay Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Long-time Bills fans remember: Stephon Gilmore (27) -- Tom Janik! 102-yd interception return on Joe Namath in the Bills only win in '67. Cordy Glenn (77) -- Ben Williams, great player on weak teams T.J. Graham (11) -- (based on the last ~10 years, the less said the better) Ron Brooks (33) -- Wasn't that Cookie's number? (And don't ask "Cookie who?") Zebrie Sanders (66) -- HOF'er Billy Shaw John Potter (3) -- Pete Gogolak! His signing with the Giants was one of the events leading up to the AFL-NFL merger when the leagues needed a truce to stop the raiding.
hondo in seattle Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 (edited) That's an impressive memory! I don't even remember what number I wore in HS, let alone the numbers of past Bills with a few, rare exceptions. OJ wore 32, didn't he? Edited May 23, 2012 by hondo in seattle
JÂy RÛßeÒ Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Ron Brooks (33) -- Wasn't that Cookie's number? (And don't ask "Cookie who?") Nope Cookie was 34. Some notable Bills 33s include Ronnie Harmon, Sam Gash. The full list: Wegert, Ted HB 1960 Baker, Art RB 1961-62 Braxton, Hezekiah HB 1963 Joe, Billy FB 1965 Bailey, Bill FB 1967 Gregory, Ben RB 1968-69 Pate, Lloyd RB 1970 Jackson, Randy RB 1972 Washington, Vic RB 1975-76 Reid, Andy RB 1976 McKnight, Ted RB 1982 Harmon, Ronnie RB 1986-89 Fuller, Eddie RB 1991-93 Tindale, Tim RB 1995-97 Gash, Sam FB 1998-99, 2003
stevewin Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Harmon #33 will always be seared in my brain - Cleveland 1990
Wagon Circler Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Who could forget the immortal Hezekiah Braxton?

Cookie is just on the cusp of my memory. I'm amazed how many of these guys I remember. Ben Gregory was really good until he tore up his knee. Out of Nebraska as I recall.
BobChalmers Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Jim Kelly was 12 right? Dating myself - Joe Ferguson will always be #12 for me!
shoretalk Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Dating myself - Joe Ferguson will always be #12 for me! Sorry to hear about your dating life ... have you tried Match.com?? They are supposed to have a significant success rate. As for #`12 Yes, you are right Joe Ferguson will always be Number 12 but then again so will Jim Kelly. I hope that Zebrie can be half the OL that Billy Shaw was ... The number history brings back some great memories even from of our so so teams. I just hope that #94 quickly becomes one of those classic Bills' uniform numbers that every Bills fan and every quarterback in the league cannot forget!

mrags Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 I realllllllllly wish that Graham wouldn't have worn 11. It's official. He will always be seen as a small, underweight, burner with no good routes, not physical enough to be in the NFL and always injured. Or he can be a washed up QB, or a California surfer who thought he was an actual NFL player, or a kicker that made Buffalo, it's sports, and fans the biggest joke in sports in the last 25 years. Thanks alot. I'd pay for us to just retire this numer out of bad luck.

1B4IDie Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 45 53 Tank Carder is #45? Well I guess he'll be a full time special teamer.
Ennjay Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) Carder 45 Nigel 53 To be honest, I couldn't remember a 45. (Did Hagoode Clarke wear #45? And which one of his names had the extra "e"?) The only 53 I remembered was Will Grant. (Did Dave Ogas wear it too?) I didn't want to dig out the all-time roster since my point was remembering these guys. Edited May 24, 2012 by Ennjay

Ennjay Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Mario Haggan wore 53. So much for short-term memory too. This is what happens when you live in the Tri-State Area and only see a few games a year on TV.
