Hypocrite GOP House idiots pass retarded military spending bill

Recommended Posts

What a joke. This should be an embarrassment to the true fiscal conservative GOP leaders in the house.

$643 billion military spending bill...It exceeds the cap set for defense programs in last year's budget deal by several billion dollars.

....bar same-sex marriage ceremonies on U.S. military bases

The bill also includes new funding -- opposed by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta -- for certain tank upgrades, additional submarines, long-range bomber development and Air Force drones.

GOP leaders, while pressing for overall spending reductions, vehemently oppose the bulk of the defense cuts... Mitt Romney is pushing for a significant defense spending increase

It's really unfortunate we need to go down this road when the logical step is to fully audit military spending (all spending, actually) to flush the waste first. I have no doubt a thorough vetting of military spending will find $643 billion being wasted a couple of times over...easily.

What do you mean by "we need to go down this road?" ...just that they're pushing that way or that there is some actual reason for it?

In defense of that...long-range bomber development is necessary at this point, and "additional submarines" is code for "jobs program" (I would be entirely unsurprised if the Navy didn't ask for them, doesn't need them, and can't man or afford them. Congress buying ships the Navy doesn't want, just to keep shipyards open, has happened before.)

But most of that's indefensibly hypocritical and stupid. No gay marriage on military bases? Well, yeah, I can sorta-kinda agree (just to be consistent with my "separation of powers/no federal involvement in marriage" view). But codifying it into a law, written into an appropriations bill? !@#$ing buffoons.

Down the road of requesting more money when an independent audit of just our military spending would probably find a trillion wasted dollars without breaking a sweat.

Wait, the big news here, when did the Federal Government pass a budget?
