obviously the addition of Mario Williams and Mark Anderson will definitely help our pass rush which can only help the pass defense. also the addition of happy gilmore and having aaron williams in his second year will help tremendously but the real reason the pass defense will be great is because of the quality of quarterbacks we will be facing in 2012 is pretty putrid. The only team we play with a legitimate qb next year is new england and Tom Brady. You can make a case for Houston with Matt Shaub but honestly everybody else is either a rookie or a fringe type player.. Look at the schedule and tell me if you think the same thing

Alex Smith is not just mediocre anymore. He went head to head in Drew Brees's game and WON.

For the most part, the op was correct.

The guys I watch NFL with are mostly 9ers fans so I watch a lot of their games and think he is mediocre but his game against NO was very good.

Will they stop the run too?

So in a passing driven league we will be all set then!

Honestly thats the truth! Not only will our pass defense be really good but that will make our whole defense that much better. It is a passing league and even if our run defense isnt top 10 it wont matter as much. This is because being able to pass the ball is what keeps your offense flowing. If you cant pass the ball then you dont have a potent offense and it is as simple as that. Yes if you can run the ball then you may be able to put up some points but in the end it all comes back to the passing game. That is why playing the NFC west and the AFC south will only help our season this year. Im pretty excited so GO BILLS!!!!
