Kelsay is the one person who should care. It's just a number, but its HIS number.

In what way is it HIS number? A number isn't proprietary and even if it was, it would be owned by the Bills - not Kelsay.

The number was on the Bills jersey which was worn by Kelsay when he was paid to play for the Buffalo Bills. It's not his anything.

available numbers for mario...

61, 62, 63, 64, 66, 68, 77, 78? & 93

Hopefully he doesn't choose #68--- seeing M. Williams, #68 out there will bring back too many bad memories.

Lay off the dude. Chris Kelsay is a very decent football player, and is desperately trying to hang on to that number for its symbolic value and significance to him, because of the 1,215,826 inhabitants of the Buffalo-Niagars Falls metropolitan population, 90 actually like him.

A great Bills trivia question would be, "Can you name them?"

The Bills don't want to upset all of those fans who have jerseys with the number 90 and the name Kelsay.

Wait, what?

It is his number because he needs to pay to change it per NFL rules.

ha ha Kelsay.

Gets a big contract, reads on TSW how he was "our best defender this season" and now Williams walks in and says "give me your jersey punk".

That doesn't make it HIS number, but either way Im sure Mario wouldn't mind paying the fee for Kelsay to change it.

Four more than number of your brain cells if you believe that.

Sorry, Chris.

Get back to Momma Kelsay. She has cookies waiting.

Have you followed these players at all? I think you have that last line exactly opposite. Anderson is the situational pass rusher, Keslay is the every down guy.

And did you even read the article? Kelsay just want's to finish his career with that number, HE brought it up with Williams not the other way around. You are just off here.

Look at my face when I respond to your response. (points at his serious face)

NO!

I don't know how anyone can justify the term "solid" when he is supposed to be a pass rush specialist yet gets no sacks. When he does, they seem like flukes. Others call him a run-stuffer, which is ridiculous, because he had zero run stuffs last year and very few over his entire career.

According to NFL.com, Kelsay had 5.0 sacks in 2012. As far as the run stuffing thing goes, I beg to differ as well.

With the draft last week I was jonesin' for some Bills football. I still had the Denver game on TIVO so I started watching it. In the first half, the Broncos have the ball and it's 3rd and 1. Of course Tebow tries to run and Kelsay stiffens him up short. It looked like Tebow hit a brick wall. The next play the Broncos punt and Leodis runs it back for a TD. That my friend, is a game changing play.

You people who think Kelsay sucks and is a waste of a roster spot, I have to wonder what games your watching sometimes ...

As far as retired numbers goes it is my understanding that the only number retired is 12. And, it's not Jim Kelly's number. It was retired to honor the 12th man. (I could be wrong about this, not sure,)

I see giving Mario #78 not as a dis to Bruce, but actually a way to honor the number. You gotta be a monster to wear #78 for the Bills. Mario is, so he gets to wear it. Kelsay/Carrington/Troups/Edwards etc are not, so they must wear something else.

Ditto, but for you.

I have no idea what you are watching if you think Kelsay is a solid player.

He consistently gets caught at the point of attack and enveloped by a tackle or pulling guard. He bites on play fakes and reverses worse than a girl giving her first BJ. He still, after 10 years in the NFL, has not figured out how to cover a zone without letting a LB get behind him and his play recognition skills are mediocre at best.

Sorry Chris.

Momma Kelsay will take care of you.

Why should he give it up? Kelsay has played well for the Bills. Why should Carrington give 92 up? If you move teams and your numbers taken, suck it up and pick something else.

I don't know what yall have been been watching for the last 10 years. At DE Chris has been solid. Not great, but solid.

Good for you Chris in not giving it up.

I hope the Bills assign Williams #78. That would be sweet.

Thank you for explaining this better than I could. Kelsey isnt a game changer, he isnt that emotional or loud, I understand. But he is solid, he has been here 10 years. Im glad that Kelsey kept his jersey. He has paid his dues. Mario Williams will get 90 when they cut Kelsey in 2 years. Number 78 is a great idea, but wont that pressure him because of the significance in Buffalo for 78?

You might be correct based on your silly technicalities, but Kelsay has been wearing 90 for the Bills since he has been in the league. Even if the team could force him to switch (which I don't think they can, but I'm not sure), they have publicly stated that they would not. Since he is not being forced to and is unwilling to change, he will continue to wear 90 as long as he is a member of the team. That is what makes it his number.
