I would take Carrington over Caussin and I think Moats is too good to cut so maybe he makes it over Potter, who could be kept as a PS player and added to the 53 man roster later in the season.

Caussin is starting the season on the PUP so there is no need to consider him initially.

Remember that the Bills will almost always have four DLs on the field on defense so it makes sense to take a few more DLs than they might have last year. This is where they have a lot of talented players as well.

Moats and Scott are both versatile players, which makes them very valuable. Moats is a LB who can play ST, but who can also rush the passer from the DE position in obvious passing situations. Scott is a SS by trade, but can be used as a cover LB in obvious passing situations to cover oppsoing TEs.

I love all the work that folks put into this, and I know it's for fun.

What surprises me, though, is how you guys who put all the time into this fail to listen to what Chan says extremely plainly and also common football sense.

Chan says Scott is a LB this year. Period. So all of these rosters have to give him a spot at LB.

Also per Chan, Moats is focused on OLB as his only position this year. So if he makes the roster, it's as a LB

The LB and DB are typically the players who are most valuable on ST, as well, so the backups there are typically dual-purpose players. 300+ lb backup DE and DT thundering down the field on kickoff, not so much.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record: there is NO WAY the Bills can keep 11 DL, just because you like the talent there. DL get hurt, true, but so do LB and DB. Troup is not ready to play DL. He either goes on IR or gets cut. McGee, sadly, likewise - unless we simply can't find a FA safety Nix likes or they really feel he's only a week or so away. One simply has to keep 10 DB who can go on the roster because it's such a high-injury position by its nature, and I don't see them cutting, say, a healthy Carrington or Moats to keep McGee

We no longer have the roster spots to give talented players who are too injured to start the season. Edited:

DE (54): Mario, Anderson, Merriman, Kelsay, Moats

DT (65): Williams, Dareus, Edwards, Sp. Johnson, Troup, Carrington

LB (57): Barnett, Sheppard, Morrison, Bradham, Carder Moats Scott)

S (4): Wilson, Byrd, Searcy, FA pickup

CB (6): Williams, Gilmore, McKelvin, McGee, Rogers, Brooks (One of the rookies- Prince Miller?)

RDT(2) - Kyle Williams, Kellen Heard

What's up with Heard's ankle? Has he been back on the field? How is he looking?

four tes because they need two blocking tes for goalline and dickerson is going to be a catching hback. they could drop mcintyre but they like him for special teams

scott will usually play a te covering lb but could also cover for a safety in a pinch. they need that extra roster spot stolen from s/lb to let them carry nine dlinemen, considering they will play most downs with less than three lbs on the field (or with anderson/merriman lined up like a lb, same thing)

yeah no way carder goes to the ps, he would be gone, which is why they will carry him on the roster

if they decide not to carry a kickoff specialist they might fill that spot with another olineman, but if not then they will rely on the ps system (theirs and other teams) to get a lineman if/when somebody needs to be replaced

I could be wrong, but I don't recall them always having 2 blocking TE at the goalline. I recall seeing McIntyre down there quite a bit (and quite effective too. BAM! Pwned).

Where did you get the gouge about the Bills playing most downs with less than 3 LB on the field? That's not what I've seen in the film clips that have allowed us to see the defenders.

It would be highly unusual - the OLB have big contain and coverage responsibilities in a 4-3 and I don't recall seeing 4-3 teams take this approach, it would be a "gambling" D.

I would be anxious to be educated.

Can anyone who has been at camp comment?

Everyone seems to be so sure about certain players making the roster. Realize that only 53 can be kept on the active roster. Once you sit down and actually put the names to the positions and stay at the magic # of 53, I believe reality sets in and some decent players are going to be cut...

QB: R. Fitzpatrick, V. Young

RB: F. Jackson, CJ Spiller, J. White

FB: D. Dickerson

WR: S. Johnson, D. Hagan, D. Jones, D. Nelson, TJ Graham, N. Roosevelt

TE: S. Chandler, L. Smith

OT: C. Glenn, C. Hairston, S. Young, E. Pears, Z. Sanders

OG: A. Levitre, K. Urbik, C. Rhinehart

C: E. Wood, C. Brown

DE: M. Williams, S. Merriman, M. Anderson, C. Kelsay, K. Moore

DT: M. Dareus, K. Williams, S. Johnson, D. Edwards

OLB: A. Moats, N. Barnett, B. Scott, N. Bradham

MLB: K. Sheppard, S. McKillop, T. Carder

DB: A. Williams, S. Gilmore, R. Brooks, J. Rogers, L. McKelvin

S: J. Byrd, G. Wilson, D. Searcy, N. Saenz

K: R. Lindell, J. Potter

P: B. Mooreman

LS: G. Sanborn

Noteable Cuts:

K. Morrison - Age/Making room for younger players

T. McGee - Age/Injury - Any chance he could play S for the next few years?

T. Troup - Injury - Maybe IR

M. Easley - Down to him vs. Roosevelt - PRACTICE SQUAD (if Easley does not make roster)

B. Smith - Lack of impact at QB, buried at WR

T. Choice - Down to him vs. White

C. McIntyre - Age (although one of my favorites)

A. Carrington - Has not proven himself

M. Jasper - Still work in progress - PRACTICE SQUAD

C. White - Lack of "multi use" - PRACTICE SQUAD

M. Asper - PRACTICE SQUAD

D. Batten - Has not proven himself

-Keeping Potter as a 2nd Kicker means 1 more cut. At this point I believe they are keeping Potter.

-Kept 10 Offensive Linemen - Only due to injury history and the youth at the positions.

-Obviously with any injuries things could change.

1 Down...JASPER

You only listed 4 players going to the Practice Squad, when you can have 8.

Do you not see other players on the current roster making it there?

Players like Fendi Onobun, Derek Session, Kamar Aiken or Delano Howell?

Some of the practice squad guys wont be our players....

Sessions and Onobun are eligible for the PS

I think McGee stays over McKelvin.

I think Nesbitt could go to the PS. Prince Miller I think is still eligible for the PS as well. 1 or 2 spots on the Ps are usually kept for the DBs.

Caussin is on the PuP list.

I don't think Morrison will be cut. He's only 30 years old and he is playing in the 4-3 again where he has excelled in the past. I am hoping Brad Smith gets cut, but I don't think it's going to happen. Also, I suspect Tashard Choice makes the roster over White despite JW's performance in the Washington game.

Carrington makes the team.

Honestly, not really concerned with the Practice Squad as I did not put much time or thought into that aspect. I would like to see Easley and Aiken on it. Maybe one of the TE's and yes Howell if he does not make the team. Also, a QB would be nice.

A few thoughts off tye top of my head; They're not cutting Brad Smith. Doubt McGee, McIntyre, and Morrison get cut. I can't see them keeping 10 offensive lineman. And there is no way that they go into the season with only Scott as a backup OLB. I would bet that they end up keeping 7 LB's.

As I have said before....people keep saying who they are NOT going to cut....Those 4 players you mentioned have to be filled with 4 cuts.....lets hear some thoughts of who they may cut instead.

From the roster you have up; I'd say Young, Moore, Dickerson, and either Brown/McKillop/Saenz.

Morrison back to his real position/43defense, right? If so, not only will he be safe but I fully expect him to log 80+ tackles in a starting role. He's ready to go this year and'll be a surprise for us. (especially @TBD apparently)

Why do peeps not like him so much? Is it because everyone's in love with Favre-crushing Moats, and he's competing for a valuable roster spot? Are we relegating him to a backup role?

Help me out on this one, guys...

We WILL have Potter as the 2nd kicker on the 53 man roster because his kicks alone decreases the need of players on special teams... Get it?

Delano Howell will beat out Saenz... Who IS Saenz anyway? Also I hope McKelvin somehow has like 5 interceptions by the trade deadline so we could at least get a 3rd rounder for him via trade...

Gonna be a lot of disapointed people when Brad smith makes the team

Anyone who ever believed Brad Smith was going to be cut is completely delusional.

I assume that comes from Buddy's comments this past offseason regarding the defense needing to play nickel packages roughly 50% of the time due to offenses moving towards a lot of spread formations.
