How Conservatives Are Viewed By The Left

Recommended Posts

ah, a particularly vivid example of insult as argument (3rd's don't really compare)...what, in his description of fascism do you disagree with specifically?

Easier to list what I agree with: "authoritarian" and "nationalist". Everything else was absolute nonsense.

or all the easy pickings are gone. it's cost prohibitive to get to the other stuff and they're not certain they can get it at all or if it's there in estimated quantities. either way, it's not an immediate or even near term answer to our dependence on foreign oil. if it were, we wouldn't care about iran except in regard to the israeli's(who would also become much less important). but you keep believing it's a question of our will to get at these resources. it serves your argument much better than the countless more plausible explanations.

When are you going to link to facts? You just keep speculating. Today I heard John Hofmeister, former CEO of Shell Oil claim that we could be basically energy independent within 8-10 years if we put our minds to it. According to him this could be done without harm to the environment. Sarah Palin, in a speech on Earth Day espoused the position that the U.S. with the strictest environmental standards should be producing as much oil as possible----in order to help the environment.

Natural gas is in such abundant supply with the Marcellus Shale finds and others that the cost of the product (not the delivery) here in the U.S. is 1/3 what it was 2 years ago. I'm linking to the natural gas prices and Sarah's speech below. I haven't found a link to John Hofmeister's comments yet but that is what he said.

Liberals are fighting the last war. It's like charging cavalry against tanks. They don't understand that the evangelicals that were for big government, especially when it came to subsidies, have been marginalized by the libertarians and the TEA party. This is evidenced by it being Romney, and not Santorum. Put simply: they aren't arguing against the same old people or ideas. However, they are too lazy to figure that out. This is why the TEA party has been so effective, and also why OWS has not.

As an example:

1) Outlawing abortion. If I am for both individual freedom and individual responsibility, how the F could I be for this?

2) Making contraception illegal. Same

3) Building up the military industrial complex. Well, as per the Syria thread, liberal clowns can't cry about what is happening in the rest of the world, demand that something be done, look to our military, expect them to do it on the cheap, but also ensure that none of them die, and that the whole thing is over in time for American Idol. :wallbash: Where does Amnesty Int'l expect the power to come from to set this guy in China free? Sweden? What would be happening to these Amnesty turds if they went to foreign countries, talked schit, and the USA wasn't the USA? Without us, these groups don't exist.

How many more examples do Democrats(or neo-cons = ex-Democrats) need to learn these simple concepts: you cannot half-ass a war, and Europe will only act in their self-interest, if they act at all? Who is going to keep the peace? France? IF you persist in demanding that we run around fighting everywhere, then I will persist in demanding that have the resources to do it properly. If you insist that Europe is worth listening to, I will keep demanding that they put their troops and money where their mouth is. Make up your mind, but remember, we trade worldwide, and therefore we need to protect that worldwide. Deal with the reality here, or STFU.

4) The right-wing has a special relationship with Wall Street and multi-nationsl corporations Retarded. Wall Street/Corporations give to whoever is winning, or both sides if they aren't sure. The only people who don't know that are, surprise, surprise, people that haven't worked in a real Wall Street/Corporation job.

5) Conservatives want to destroy all collective bargaining rights and blame unions for all of the problems

6) That anyone who is a progressive or pro worker rights is a communist or socialist

Retarded. Why would any conservative, and especially a libertarian, be against people's right to assemble and do whatever they want? The problem is not unions. I have no issue with unions as a concept, and as a corporate guy, I know there are many situations where they make sense. Therefore, I couldn't be more against the current unions and their leadership, as their behavior directly contradicts the concept and makes little sense. When you stop representing workers, and start representing a political party that does things that hurts those workers...you WILL lose people.

7) Is for a War on Women If by that you mean the war against the unreasonable and unaccountable...then yeah, I am all for it! :D

8) Is for a war on illegal immigrants As I said, I'm not prepared to call 11 million people I don't know, criminals, because they want a better life and are working hard towards it.

I specifically didn't address the Michigan law because I haven't researched it. A brief Google only showed me a lot of hyperbole. How many of the positions listed as conservative beliefs have been pushed by Obama, the DNC and others on the left?

It's horseschit. Private managers are being deployed by the state to cities that are corrupt. The fact that they are Democrat cities is irrelevant. Same reason a financial control board runs things in Buffalo. Corruption is out of hand. The simple answer: if you don't like the fact that the state refuses to keep throwing money at your ****ty town, then stop voting for the people who enrich themselves and keep it ****ty. The rest of the state shouldn't have to pay because you and the people you support are a bunch of douchebags.

So yeah, basically there's not a single characterization there that is accurate.

And, again, these characterizations, and arguing against them, is precisely why liberals are losing across the board.

You'd think people who like to say straw man so much....would be more careful of them.

where's OC when you need him

Right here, exposing the vinegary doucheyness of douches like you....specifically in #3 above.
