GG Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 In the forever words of Dwight Adams, "You can't coach size and speed." And in November afternoons in Orchard Park, arm strength.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Another franchise QB bites the dust. Â PTR Â check out the 2010 QB draft class. pretty sad. Â http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_NFL_Draft
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I'd rather sign Tony Pike, who was cut by the panthers not long ago.
Homey D. Clown Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Nope. Â If Buddy's Philosophy is to primarily build through the draft, I think we're all safe from worrying about the horrendous idea.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Some of you are just so gung-ho about signing any and every free agent player and trading picks for every scrub player former draft hype you can think of. Â Hype dies hard. Â PTR
PromoTheRobot Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 check out the 2010 QB draft class. pretty sad. Â http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_NFL_Draft I know there's still a lot of love for Bradford but none of the QBs drafted that year have done squat. Â PTR
BRH Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 What are the chances, really, that a 6th round pick will be better than him? Pretty high IMO
beerme1 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Worst idea of the week   No way. Yesterday someone had us trading our first and second next year!
BRH Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I was really shocked to see that the "rookie" that the Browns took to replace him is 28 years old. Hes older then some of the veteran QB's in the league! Chris Weinke 2.0
billieve79 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) I'd consider it. Colt isn't going to be a franchise type of QB, but to me, he seems like an ideal backup. He's smart, he's a winner and just seems like the type of guy I wouldn't mind plugging in for a few weeks or whatever if Fitz got hurt. I'm scared to death about the backup we have now. Edited April 27, 2012 by billieve79
QCity Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 You might even be able to get him for a 7th. He's under contract for the next 3 years at about $1M per year. He'd make a much better backup than Thigpen ($3M a year) at 1/3 the price. Â This wouldn't be that bad of a move, but it would crush the dreams of the Wilson/Osweiler/Foles/etc crowd.
scribo Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Why bother with McCoy? We may have drafted our QB of the future last night. Â As a senior (in high school) Gilmore led his team as the QB, going 15-0, capturing the state title and ranking third in the Maxpreps.com final national poll. With Gilmore at the helm, he completed 112-of-187 passes (59.9%) for 1,771 yards and 14 touchdowns. He rushed 145 times for 1,262 yards (8.7 ypc) and 23 scores, piling up 138 points for the offense. On the other side of the ball, he recorded 13 tackles with two interceptions and a fumble recovery, in addition to handling punt returns. Â That 2008 performance earned Gilmore first-team All-State honors from The State and he was named to the prestigious Parade All-American team, in addition to earning national honors from EA Sports. Named "Mr. Football" for the state of South Carolina, he played quarterback in the 72nd Shrine Bowl Game of the Carolinas, earning Offensive MVP honors.

Kevin Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Smears Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) Colt McCoy, Jimmy Clausen, and Blaine Gerbur are busts. They should go bowling together, then drive off a cliff. Edited April 27, 2012 by Smears
Buffalo Barbarian Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Browns acknowledge their rookie qb is their starter and they're looking to move McCoy as of today. They should at least keep him as a backup, he's not diva were he would pout.
Never NEVER Give-up Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I'd wait till Saturday, after Rd's 2-3 are over and offfer them one of our 7th round picks - he's an upgrade over Thigpen and with a full year as starter under his belt, he may actually make a jump and be better than he was and fulfill some of the promise he had coming out of college.
