DDD Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Okay, as the draft approaches tomorrow, it's time to post scouting cliches. A few of my favorites: Has all the physical tools (all-time favorite) Can make all the throws Plays with great leverage What else you got?
Maddog69 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 the cliches are great. The decriptors from some of the scouts (plays like his hair is on fire, etc) are also entertaining. And don;t forget the concealed racism: High motor (=white guy). Athletic QB (=black guy)
K-9 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Are the Cliches French Canadian? I'm sure they went to a small, under the radar kind of school not known for it's football program. But kudos to Buddy and the scouts for doing their homework on these guys. Ray Cliche may be the steal of the draft. GO BILLS!!!
The Avenger Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 High motor - get excited about this guy but he's never going to actually be a great player He's a bit of a tweener - guy was great in college but at the NFL there's absolutely no place for him - too small or too big to play where he did in college Has a nasty streak - talks $*(&^ out on the field Has great technique - looks pretty, but doesn't mean he's a good player Has great quickness - had a bad 40 time but he really should be fast
NickelCity Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I laughed when they called various linebackers, "true thumpers." This was all the rage in '09.
eball Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 (edited) "Plays well in space." Unfortunately, the NFL is played on earth. "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane." "Bowling ball of butcher knives." Edited April 25, 2012 by eball
Billsrhody Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 "Downhill player" or "Downhill runner" No body is running on slants.. come on!
section122 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 my favorite is "10 year starter" with all of the 10 year starters in every draft it surprises me that they keep having them. I would think all roster spots would be taken by now.

Maddog69 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 You need to watch the League if you don't already I haven't seen it. My friend always tells me I should watch it because I would love it. I'm going to have to check it out.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Plays well in a phone booth… A newer scouting cliche was recently revealed to us by Bills scouts: "He's a good foot athlete."
Chandemonium Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 he's got an extra gear- only runs hard when he's about to get hit.
Snapple Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 The most popular this year has been the phrase "Teams doing there due dilligance".
K-9 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Plays well in a phone booth… A newer scouting cliche was recently revealed to us by Bills scouts: "He's a good foot athlete." Not new at all. That saying has been around as long as Rex Ryan has been in the league. GO BILLS!!!
The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ. Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 plays like his hair is on fire-I guess that means the guy rolls around on the ground.
