Mort on chat right now. Already 2 Bills questions

Recommended Posts

Are you being sarcastic? TH is the consummate team player--he played his heart out last year on a broken leg for a 6-10 team. He's never made a stink about getting demoted--and he looks to be fully supportive of WM. How does his attitude stink?

BJH....... from a little birdie

A source very close to the Bills says that TH could play but is being a spiteful little prick and refuses to practice or play. He's being such a malcontent the Bills may even cut him outright.

Isn't it odd that HE ruled himself out against SF? Hmmmmm ;)

I have this friend of a friend who told me as much in an couple of emails.  If it wasn't for the constant discrediting of "marginal fans" like myself, I might have posted what he's been telling me since October.  Instead I just chime in in threads like this to give people somethig else to think about.  One time I had a few beers after work and logged on, but even after a few I knew the peanut gallery would totally trash my friend's freind because I'm a "marginal fan" and they know more than I ever could.

Go ahead and shock us. What other things did this friend have to say.

Okay BJH didn't want to respond here. But he sent the following PM. Interesting stuff since it appears that it comes from around the time of the Baltimore loss.

Hey VABills, thanks for risking your credibility on a marginal fan like me. Here is a couple of email excerpts my friend sent me going back as far as October. If you want to go ahead and post this, I'm cool with that, but I'd just assume to sit back and let these retards bicker at eachother and stroke each other's ego. It's more fun this way

Boom

Couple of things he told me.

1) While it was ugly, the Bills way out played the Ravens. Said that game shouldn't have been close. He said the decisions by Drew led him to believe Drew either has a concussion or never fully recovered from one.

2) He said Moulds maybe the best receiver in the league right now. He is getting open on every play from what he says, even being double and triple teamed.

3) Said our defense is excellant, and will be better once Milloy and Vincent are healthy.

4) He said the Bills are way underrated, and if they could stop the stupid one or two plays a game, they would make the playoffs, even with their current record. He says they are that good.

5) Says Baltimore has a great defense, and Deion is really still pretty damn good. Said he was playing his position correctly and even though he doesn't have the same speed he still would be a number 1 corner on half the teams in the league. He was suprised at how well we moved on them.

6) He also said that Travis would have been traded but Donahoe couldn't find any team willing to give better than a 5th rounder. He thought that was Oakland, but he wasn't sure. He sad Donahoe decided to keep him because he would be worth a 5th as a backup back. He also said, unless the offers get better in the offseason Buffalo may keep Henry as the backup next year.

7) He stated the skins have a long way to go. He said their focus seems to be on line play and probably will draft high or sign at least 5 offensive and defensive linemen. That says a lot about what the skins think of their linemen.

He says Indy will beat the Broncos even with Payton not playing most of the game. He says the Jets are too good of a team to lose to SL. He also said we will probably beat either Indy or SD in the first round. Says we should beat Pittsburgh if we have to play them in the 2nd round.

Oh yeah he also mentioned Henry again. He says the Bills will probably take anything for him at this point even a 6th or 7th. Said he has become a real punk around the locker room. He supposedly was healthy enough to play, but has flat out refused to suit up.

He said if no team wants him, the Bills will cut him at this point because he is such a problem.

Lot of good info there. Seemed to be right about Deion, he had 3 Int's, and decent punt return average until he was hurt.

He was right about the D getting even better with Milloy and now Vincent back.

He also said we should make the playoffs. Who honestly could have said that after that Baltimore game?

Seems to be some real legit info here.

Actually, I think he's right on numerous things. And I wouldn't be surprised if he's got Travis Henry pegged perfect.

I disagree. If Henry was a cancer you'd have heard something about the "Bickering Bills" at least once.

183889[/snapback]

Not necessarily. It could be (assuming that the story about Henry's immature little temper tantrum is true) that team chemistry is solid enough otherwise that Henry's essentially a pariah on the team now. Given the performance of not only McGahee but Shaud Williams and Burns, I could see a very real possibility of the team choosing as a whole not to put up with Henry's presumed crap.

As for whether or not Henry's pulling this kind of stunt...I don't necessarily accept the story at face value, but given Travis's track record of woefully immature and, frankly, stupid judgement (picking up strange women at a gas station? You're rich...call an escort service, you dope...), I wouldn't immediately discount the story either.

I certainly don;t know what is going on in the locker room, though if Henry was in fact being such a punk and a cancer word has tended to leak out in the past about such behavior. Perhaps' BJH's friend of a friend who is connected is simply a sign of that leakage.

However, waiting for some additional confirming friend of a friend sources would seen prudent given a couple of things:

1. Acting as a cancer rather than a teamer would seen to be contrary to past ACTIONS by Henry such as sucking it up an playing through pain as someone points out in a post above. Perhaps Henry has become a punk, but if he has this would be contrary to the actions which earned him a spot on the TSW wallpaper.

2. In the past Henry has said the wrong thing in particular cases such as his rap usic interview last year and his initial questioning of why the Bills drafted WM when they had him. However, these episodes appear to be individual occurences which can just as easily be explained by the competitive pride all pro athletes have (and one wants them to have) or some media idiot writing an article thst reflected their interest in creating a controversy rather than the idea of presenting a fuller more accurate picture that does not sell as many papers. henry has shown the ability to say the wrong thing, but it has never been the persistent rant which comes from a cancer and usually leaks out. if anything Henry hass demonstrated that someone is giving him good advice and he will put a sock in it and shut up when it suits his interest to be a good camper.

3. Being a cancer, punk or throwing a hissy-fit so obviously does not serve Henry's interests that even if he is an idiot he will realize it. His agent would have to be flat out stupid and willing to operate against the agents' own financial interests if he is counseling Henry to be an idiot and get himself cut by the Bills. An agent makes money by getting 4% or so (this is the going rate I have heard of lately) of a players contract. Henry's value is diminished because of his poor performance this season. it is further diminished by the uncertainty surrounding his injury. Why on earth he or his agent would judge this as the best time to get a big payoff or would seek to reduce his value even further by developing the reputation as a cancer or giving TD the ammo and a reason to let other GMs know that TH is such a cancer this recent Pro Bowler deserved to be cut is beyond logic.

Sure athletes and even their agents have done dumb things before, but throwing a hissy fit would seem to so strike against Henry's and any agents financial interests that this form of suicide needs some substantiation before it is believable.

The guy definitely knows his stevestojan and it was his analysis of Bledsoe's play that sold me. I hadn't thought about Deion that much until you made this post, but yeah, he's right about that too. I haven't had access to this guy for very long, but I'm curious to see one of his mock drafts.

BJH, I don't have access to the locker room. Your rumbling about Henry "stealing money" as Mike Martz might say is the first I'd heard. I called you on it and you backed it up, it doesn't mean we necessarily think we're insiders, nor does it make us a bunch of retards. We're fans, for crying out loud.

It is certainly not beyond logic for a guy who coming off a Pro-Bowl season, ASKED the team to extend his contract because he was broke.

There had to have been a reason why a guy with such great running skills lasted until the end of the 2nd round. We are slowly finding out why.

A fascinating read your friend has provided, VABillsfan. It seems to have a ring of truth (unlike the Geroge Siefert -new Bills coach rumor we heard last year). If Travis Henry is acting the way he's alleged to be acting, the the Bills will and should auction him off to the highest bidder. If not, then I agree he's worth more as a backup RB than as trade bait for a fifth round pick.

SportsNation Chris Mortensen: (11:20 AM ET ) Henry's ankle injury and slow rehab may be diminishing his chances to get traded.

SportsNation Chris Mortensen: (11:17 AM ET ) There's no way Losman goes in as the starter next year.

Mr Mortensen is one of the sports reporters that I truly enjoy watching and listening to. Having lot of good contacts that feed good information makes that an easy listen, but he is a stand up guy - when many others are calling for a player to get cut or a coach to get fired, see if Mort isn't one of the few that give a guy a break, and just report the facts. Smack talk can be fun sometimes, but it's not the way he makes a living. Good on ya, Mort.

He's a punk and I would cut him just to make an example out of him to the rest of the team.  His attitude sucks, and with the Bills playing team ball right now, they need to just dump his ass on the street.

I know.... Brilliant move jackass!

And you know this how??

It's funny how some people around here turn into side line interviewers and analysts.
