BillsFanNC Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Title Track youtube.com/watch?v=IIAftTV4tBk&feature=player_embedded That was my favorite yesterday, today it's the Wreckers, heck they're nearly all damn good to great songs. The only song that I don't really care for is BU2B2.
Philly McButterpants Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 So far The Anarchist stands out for me...

BillsFanNC Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Geddy and Alex interviewed by Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins fame. This is a great interview, not your typical journalist interviews rock band crap. http://soundcloud.com/fmqb-productions/inside-rush-clockwork-angels

BillsFanNC Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 4/5 stars from the Buffalo News Someone forgot to tell Rush that rock music this ambitious is not particularly in style at the moment. But then, these guys probably wouldn’t have listened anyway. “Clockwork Angels” is a sublime creation. Link

It’s one thing for to churn out some fodder for store shelves, something to get their name out there again before the big tour. It’s another for a band of this vintage to knock one out of the park, and that’s just what Rush has done. For Angels is no mere shelf-filler, name-reminder. This is pure Rush. This is the Rush that has always had fans foaming at the mouth, raving to friends. This is Rush at the peak of their game, four decades into their career. It seems impossible and yet…
Welcome To Pegulavilla Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 4 decades together and they're still making great music which is simply amazing. Rush is in a league of its own. Advice to current and aspiring musicians... study Rush, learning from them will only make you better.

Musically they are amazing - yyz is a great tune. Geddy lee however is nails on a chalkboard to me. I can't stand the high pitch singing and often used to confuse them with heart. I understand there is an extremely loyal fan base and they get rated high by many on the all time great list but not for me. I can't be the only one but I will be the one to break up this rush lovefest. (great place for the devil emoticon but they aren't available on my phone)

I, for one, hate Led Zeppelin. I think Led Zeppelin is responsible for the "screamo" genre. But that means I won't stop into a Led Zeppelin appreciation thread just to **** on everyone's parade.

(great place for the devil emoticon but they aren't available on my phone) To each their own, Rush is a band that you either get or don't. For all the loyal fans there are an almost equal number of ardent detractors, which is largely the reason why Rush never has and never will get their just due in rock circles. The Geddy from late 80's on doesn't really sing that high, at first it was a choice to move in that direction, but now he physically just can't sing that high anymore.

Take a listen to this and tell me his voice still sounds like it did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wztuqskio8&feature=player_embedded

Much like the poster above I also feel to each their own. I have a rather eclectic musical taste and don't need to convince others that my music is "right" or better than others, and am glad you agree. I was nervous posting what I did because I know many are insanely defensive of their favorites. I hadn't heard any Rush since the 80s as I think it scarred me No longer true - he's gone down several registers and can't even hit those notes any more. Take a listen to this and tell me his voice still sounds like it did: youtube.com/watch?v=1wztuqskio8&feature=player_embedded Much better singing imo! I always respected them musically as I find them very talented. I often get tricked into listening to Tom Sawyer during a solo if I turn it on then remember how much I despise Geddy's singing. On a side note I'm loving off the wall during the offseason. Good topics and people seem to be more fun/rational here. I'll still avoid the PPP as I don't think they are ready for liberal/socialist agenda

TheMadCap Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I haven't had a chance to check out the album yet, but found the cover of the new album very interesting. Any Rush fan can see the obvious nod here, I am surprised no one has mentioned it yet!
