Just Jack Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 And that's why I don't dance, it's too violent.
birdog1960 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 ballroom dancing is a contact sport. good thing she wasn't doing the horizontal mambo. that can be very aggressive.
thebug Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Should I know this person?? Nahh, probably not. No, she was on TV 30 years ago. I doubt you watched much TV in your 60's.
Chef Jim Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 No, she was on TV 30 years ago. I doubt you watched much TV in your 60's. Well I began to slow down a bit then. You know, that's when that new-fangled cable TV came out with their fancy remote controls. Hey someone has to replace Stuck.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) And that's why I don't dance, it's too violent. You can do some damage to your partner, and not just stepping on her toes. My wife and I dance and I have to be carefully not to hyper-extend her shoulders while leading. PTR Edited April 10, 2012 by PromoTheRobot

I actually thinkgthat was mom and dad speak for "your mom got drunk as a skunk and fell down."
Just Jack Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Well I began to slow down a bit then. You know, that's when that new-fangled cable TV came out with their fancy remote controls. Was this your remote? http://netninja.com/2011/01/11/my-last-cable-box-had-pushbuttons/
Gary M Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Was this your remote? http://netninja.com/2011/01/11/my-last-cable-box-had-pushbuttons/ I remember the two button "clicker" remotes. If you shook your key chain just right the TV would turn off!!! http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2010/10/IMG_0375.jpg
KD in CA Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Was this your remote? http://netninja.com/...ad-pushbuttons/ I had that one....of course it wasn't really a 'remote' since it was wired to the TV and just sat on top of the set.
Chef Jim Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I remember the two button "clicker" remotes. If you shook your key chain just right the TV would turn off!!! http://www.wired.com...10/IMG_0375.jpg We had that and the top was broken so you and to click something inside to get it to work. It's amazing how far we've come.
Beerball Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 Should I know this person?? Nahh, probably not. Common man, you remember Little Joe Cartwright, don't you?

PTR don't know how close to west virginia you are but this is an excellent dance weekend plus they have a nice little 18 hole mountain golf course . price is good, too.
Chef Jim Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Common man, you remember Little Joe Cartwright, don't you? He's dead. What's that got to do with some chick getting knocked out while not even slam dancing? And I'm am far from common man.

NH. I assume you are talking about country line/two-step/pattern partner dancing? PTR
birdog1960 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 NH. I assume you are talking about country line/two-step/pattern partner dancing? PTR no, ballroom. they do it twice a year on off seasons to fill the place up. some very good dancers from virginia, pa,ohio, west virginia there. i'm thinking new hampshires a bit far. don't know of anything similar near there but there might well be. i know of a similar weekend in nashville (opryland hotel, and yes, it's ballroom with big bands) for more than double the cost. theres also one at the grove park in asheville.

Don't know much about ballroom but dances like the two-step, swing, shag, nightclub two, cha-cha, etc. are lead-and-follow dances where the woman gets her cues from the man. There is no step pattern. It's all done on the fly. Quite challenging to do well. Been doing it for years and I'm still a noob. PTR Edited April 11, 2012 by PromoTheRobot
