PromoTheRobot Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Does that include rookie cap money? If so that's not much left for D.Bell or Fred. I assume some roster players will get tossed. PTR
NoSaint Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Does that include rookie cap money? If so that's not much left for D.Bell or Fred. I assume some roster players will get tossed. PTR That's great shape for today.
BEAST MODE BABY! Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 After "wasting" all that money on Mario Williams, we're only .2 million behind Bob Kraft's team. So Bob, what do you have to say now? Marsha is done for and we have almost as much cap space as you.
LynchMob23 Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 What is the rookie cap? Rookies will fit about 5 million in cap and about 10-15 in cash, all being told this year. So they can re-sign Fred and the rookies, and Levitre and Byrd this year. They just have to put roster bonuses or guaranteed cash in 2013 as the bigger number. After this year, they get 8 million back in dead money from cutting Maybin and trading Evans. No one needs to be cut, no one needs to be moved, no worries.

I doubt we carry both dwan and spencer Johnson for instance. Maaaaybe one. We are in great shape with that number.
Punch Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 According to the figures on Jason LaCanfora's blog the team with the highest "team cash" (actual cash spent) is the Philadelphia Eagles at about $140,000,000. At $136,000,000 the 2nd highest team cash figure belongs to... the Buffalo Bills. http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/03/30/salary-cap-situation-for-each-team/ Ralph is cheap.
Mango Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 The bills have almost always been right around the league average for spending. Generally 12th to 16th or so. Our highest year was 3rd circa 2003. Our cheapest was something like 23. We are right where we normally are
truth on hold Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Before the recent signings of Williams, Stevie and anderson we must have been near the top.
eball Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Before the recent signings of Williams, Stevie and anderson we must have been near the top. That's some serious deduction there, Sherlock. Looks like the Bills are in excellent fiscal shape -- the recent big contracts haven't hamstrung them, and they still have the resources to get more done.

This is some very good news and an excellent position for us. Guys dont need to sweat worrying about being cut soon for the sake of money and we can go to camp with 17 Pass rushing Defensive ends! Must be rough being a Panther. edit Edited March 31, 2012 by 3rdand12
truth on hold Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Didn't the new CBA specify minimum payroll with 2 or 3 year phase in? Anyone know what it is? I suspect that has as much to do with our recent spending spree as anything.
DrDawkinstein Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 (edited) Didn't the new CBA specify minimum payroll with 2 or 3 year phase in? Anyone know what it is? I suspect that has as much to do with our recent spending spree as anything. Dont think it was that big of an influence. This year I think it is a shared total percentage across all 32 teams, and it's based on cash-to-cap, which we were already practicing. I believe it has more to do with Buddy executing the plan he has been talking about for the last 3 years. Edited March 31, 2012 by DrDareustein

TheMadCap Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 wow, the Panthers at the bottom (top?) of the list? Because of the RBs?
valle7878 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Thats before they cut Kelsey and Edwards to create another 9.6 million
