Pelosi-More people on food stamps is badge of honor

Recommended Posts

Wait. I'm confused. I thought when Gingrich called Obama "the food stamp president," the left said it was racist. Now it's a badge of honor? They did something similar this week with the term "Obamacare," previously stating it was offensive, and now saying they love the name.

I'm reminded of the old SNL skit with Dan Akroyd as Jimmy Carter, when he announces to America that in lieu of his ability to get inflation under control, his new economic plan was to embrace inflation.

"Inflation is our friend. Think what this inflated world of the future will mean - most Americans will be millionaires. Everyone will feel like a bigshot. Wouldn't you like to own a $4,000 suit, and smoke a $75 cigar, drive a $600,000 car? I know I would!"

Context is important. She was talking about the hypocrisy of people who claim to follow the Gospels then fight against helping the poor, and in THAT context, it's a badge of honor.

Which is still completely idiotic - hey, Nancy...no one's bitching about Catholic Charities or church-run soup kitchens here. The argument is about the proper role of government. If you're seriously going to invoke some Christian ideal to justify government programs, then when are you going to push for prayer in schools, overturn Roe v. Wade, or admit that the Catholic Church shouldn't have to pay for birth control?

Stupid !@#$ing ho. :wallbash:

I think that is a pretty bold, but smart move...at least one candidate will be standing behind his health-care initiative this coming fall, however disastrously his opponent wants to frame it.

Since when has context been relevant?

Make that more than one. Romney stands behind Romneycare. The difference is, Romney stands behind the Constitution.

Why can't I get food stamps then? Just because I make too much on unemployment with no rug rats, I'm not eligible.

I think we all know the answer: you need to start having rug rats. In fact, the more you have, the more you get. Unfortunately, the more you get, the more you depend on it. The more you depend on it, the less chance you have of getting out of it, so to keep up with the increased cost of living you need to have more rug rats so you can get more food stamps.

It's what progressives call an "incentive program."
