Cheddar's Dad Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Buffalo will select DeCastro at #10. He's the best offensive lineman in the draft and BPA at pick 10 without a doubt. It's Buddy's style. I know; what about LT? I don't like what I read about Reiff and Martin. Specifically; Reiff is a RT. Martin is a finesse blocker. Additionally, I don't think Buddy would select a LT at 10 if he really believes Buffalo already has one (Hairston). So; it's DeCastro. In the 2nd. round? How about Ronnell Lewis, OLB from Oklahoma. A starter at ROLB from day one.
GOBILLS78 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I know nothing about this draft class, but I did see this guy's combine performance. How versatile is he? Can you plug him in at center if need be? Tackle?
DefenseWinzChampionshipz Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Unfortunately DeCastro will not be a Bill my friend. I absolutely love the guy. If we weren't set at Guard I'd say take him in a heartbeat. Freddy and C.J. ran the ball effectively because of the interior line last year. The 80 yard run against the Giants was right up the middle. If Floyd and Ingram aren't available at 10, I would love to try and move down and you never know, DeCastro still may be there for the taking. Though I highly doubt it.
Cheddar's Dad Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 Tackle? Probably not. He's an inside guy and could play center. But he looks like one of the few cant's miss guys in this draft.
JPicc2114 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 David Decastro is a BEAST guard from Stanford. he is super pysical and athletic. The only problem is, he is a guard, so unless you want to kick Levitre out to left tackle then why would we need a guard?
BEAST MODE BABY! Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) Unless something crazy happens, DeCastro will be BPA at 10. If we take him, he replaces Urbik not Levitre. Edited March 21, 2012 by BEAST MODE BABY!

Let's say Buffalo can't find a trading partner to trade down. Who, then, would you select @10? Looking at mock drafts, every player after the top five can be badly criticized over something except DeCastro and Buffalo must get a winner at 10. Recall that Buffalo had Jackson and Seattle what's his name, (having a senior moment), when they selected C.J.? It's Buddy's style.
#34fan Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) This is definitely a "Bills" guy. Months ago, I posted several threads on him, that were scoffed at because he is a guard. The only player that would be better to grab @ 10 IMO would be Michael Floyd. DeCastro is an Excellent Run Blocker. Looks out for his QB. Shorter learning curve because of the offense he comes from. "D-cups" (his Stanford nickname) is one of my favorite players in the draft. Edited March 21, 2012 by #34fan
Kelly the Dog Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I think regardless of how good he is, I would be shocked if the Bills took him unless they are very worried about Wood's health, or re-signing the three guards that they really like, and have for at least a year or two. When they say Best Player Available, they don't really mean it.
DrDawkinstein Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Not going to happen. The Bills FO is setting themselves up to take BPA at a position that can make a difference. IMO, that means something along the lines of Floyd (a la Spiller in 2010). I think they'll pass up OL and DL to get a weapon, and rightfully so. They probably don't plan on drafting this high again.
The Big Cat Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Can someone explain why kicking Levitre to LT to make room for Castro would be a bad idea?
Toshiero Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 If he is as good as everyone thinks you take him at #10 period. We add another really good piece to the OL and your OL can NEVER be too good.
Lurker Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Buffalo will select DeCastro at #10. I don't believe a guard has ever ben picked as high as #10 in the history of the draft. Nice player, but poor value for a premium pick...

Bell's name is mentioned around here, so is his history of injuries. On the other hand, Wood's is very seldom noted. Yet he's been about as unreliable as Bell. So while we might not think it's that big a deal, I'll bet the Bills do. For the record, DeCastro is a great guard. However, Buddy has clearly stated that he prefers tackles coming out of college who can be converted to guards. Edited March 21, 2012 by yungmack
Kelly the Dog Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Can someone explain why kicking Levitre to LT to make room for Castro would be a bad idea? Levitre is probably too small to play full time LT in the NFL. He's much better suited to play OG and excels at guard. He is serviceable at LT but I highly doubt the team would think of him as a full time LT.
DefenseWinzChampionshipz Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 OK. Let's say Buffalo can't find a trading partner to trade down. Who, then, would you select @10? Recall that Buffalo had Jackson and Seattle what's his name, (having a senior moment), when they selected C.J.? It's Buddy's style. If Ingram is gone and Floyd is gone and no one wants to trade for the 10th pick and DeCastro is there? Then I say pull the plug and get him. But that would never happen because we already know Claiborne, RG3, Luck and Jamil are sure shot top 5 picks. That leaves 6 more slots til the Bills Pick. There's Justin Blackmon still on the board, Dontari Poe also. Ingram AND Floyd gone off the board by 10 means 1 of the guys I mentioned will be there at 10 and I'd take them before DeCastro.

For the record, DeCastro is a great guard. However, Buddy has clearly stated that he prefers tackles coming out of college who can be converted to guards. The injuries to Bell and Wood have historically been completely different. Wood had a guy fall into his leg and break a bone. Bell on the other hand, jams a finger and goes out for the season. I'm sure the Bills have an eye on Wood's status, but I wouldnt consider him as often injured.
billsfan89 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 You have to resign Bell if you want to make that move and you have to have a WR in mind to take in round 2 or to trade up for. WR and LT right are the biggest needs on the offensive side of the ball. If you resign Bell you can have some flexibility in the draft as you have two picks to really address the WR need. DE has fully come off the table with the Williams and Anderson signings. CB and LB seem to be strong needs on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Wood has had one.
