In practice, if the Oline keeps playing against a strong D line and then goes to play against another D line of a lesser caliber would this make it easier for them to get better as a unit?

Great point. I can't see how it would hurt. And drilling every day against a guy who is good has to make you better. Training camp should be a B word for the O line...which is what I want. :D We'll see how it pays off in pre-season games.

100% true story. If they play against these beasts everyday they will get better. Everyone will because of it. Fitz will get better because he will need to react and male descisions faster, the WRs will have to get open quicker and perfect tjier timing routes with Fitz, the RBs will learn more about timing and burst through small holes when they become available, the TEs will learn as much as the WRs but possibly more since they will be required to block on a more regular basis.

Well, there is not only that, but having a better D-line, you would think, would take pressure off the offense and lead to more favorable field position (a big problem in 2011) through the course of a game. The better the field position is, in theory that takes some pressure off the O-line, as it gives the offense more flexibility...in other words, they won't always be in passing situations, or, if they want to run the ball in situations that would normally call for a pass...back in the glory days of the Super Bowls, the O-line was terrific, no matter who was playing, in part, because the defense. While not always dominationg, they could always generate a good pass rush, and forced lots of three and outs...and forced turnovers.

Having a better, anything, can help out the rest of the team, immeasurably. I loved the signing of Anderson...I have had a "wait and see" opinion of Nix all along, but he is starting to win me over!

didnt merriman almost get D bell kicked to back up? he was abusing him in camp and what not. this new line is gonna have to play nice. it could be a ugly camp for the oline. if E wood can hold up against marcel and KW man he will be a bad dude during the season. seriously what team will have a better DT tandem that he hasnt faced 1000s of times in practice lol

In 1 word, yes.

IMO yes. I believe one reason our OL improved dramatically last year, was going against Merriman, Dareus, and Barnett as well as Williams regularly in practice.

Most of them got better. Some of them got out.

This year should be an even more improved version of the same - OTAs, longer training camp, even better line.

The more subtle thing where I think the line could help is hopefully giving us a short field more often.

If we have confidence that a 3-out will result in a return 3-out maybe with a sack for a good loss, our offense won't be tempted to press so hard, and can mix the run and pass more (assuming Gailey will be sensible) which helps the OL as well

Yep DBell almost D-moted and E Wang kicked out

Dude, seriously? He "started" to win us over two years ago, and has consistently upped the ante. He's approaching rock star status at this point.
