BuffaloWest Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Hahahahaha...I think both of these coaches are major d-bags. I wanted to like New Orleans after being a perrenial loser and after Katrina, but these two clowns made the team hard to like...Is it just me or do Payton and Williams both sort of like they are morphing into women?
Billsguy Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Per a league source, Sean Payton has been suspended for the full year. Gregg Williams has been suspended indefinitely. Mickey Loomis has been suspended for eight game. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/21/goodell-lowers-boom-on-the-saints/ BOOM goes the dynamite!!! Well deserved Gregg Williams. Nice job commish!
Roger Goodell Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 greg is probably looking at 2 years before he can seek reinstatement. Bud and I are working on a package deal for Greg and Pete Rose to be reinstated together.
Kelly the Dog Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Judge Mountain Goodell! I think Goodell did the right thing. Huge penalty but no one is going to use a bounty system to try to injure players. They are just going to try to injure them without the bounty.
Dopey Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 it's not who you know its who you The difference is that Spygate was about stealing signs and filming practices. Bountygate was about INJURING players(people), possibly ending careers/ability to earn a living at football or worse. Maybe it's just me, but that is a BIG difference.
Mr. WEO Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Does thi smean Payton is banned from stealing Vicodin from the team mdicine cabinet??
LabattBlue Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Asst Coach Joe Vitt who would have been the frontrunner to fill in for Payton during his suspension, also got nailed for 6 games.
JPS Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) If the League did not come down hard, the legal liability might have been huge. It still may be. NFL network just reported that an outside person offered $5k to a player who knocked Rodgers out of last season's opener via email to Payton and Williams. Oops. Edited March 21, 2012 by JPS
NoSaint Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 If the League did not come down hard, the legal liability might have been huge. It still may be. NFL network just reported that an outside person offered $5k to a player who knocked Rodgers out of last season's opener via email to Payton and Williams. Oops. That person being convicted felon mike ornstein, who defrauded the NFL for hundreds of thousands when he was an employee. Asst Coach Joe Vitt who would have been the frontrunner to fill in for Payton during his suspension, also got nailed for 6 games. Vitts an awful staff member. Much like ornstein, SP loves him. I think most are glad he won't fill in.
nucci Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I read where Goodell said the league has been investigating Payton and the Saints since 2010 and was basically lied to. I'm sure he's pissed. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/17947266/goodell-nfl-hammer-ringleader-payton-and-theyre-right-on-target
Best Player Available Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Greg "airhorn" Williams deserves every thing he gets. That piece of chit is a liar and should be fired from the Rams.
Peter Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Shawn Merriman has a sense of humor about this Shawn Merriman's take on this.
Chef Jim Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Exactly, where was who dat nation the last dozen years? Come on man, maybe you're too young but that team sucked for loooooooong time. Our suffering nothing on them.
Maybe Someday Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I'd assume right around sept 1st he will be cut off until after the last game. The suspensions start April 1st, at least Payton’s does. I’m guessing that it’s just like when a player gets suspended…they are not allowed at team facilities until the suspension is over. That means he’s not involved with the draft, any kind of game planning, etc. I wonder if there are any players that suffered major/career altering injuries while playing the Saints? If so, there may be some lawsuits coming at them too.
Beerball Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 So, do you suppose that ESPN is going to suspend the next former player who bitches about the locker room snitch? Can't believe how much of this went on when this story first broke.
Adam Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Wow!!! Howard Balzer @HBalzer721 Saints $500,000 and lose second-round pick in 2012 and maybe 2013. Some tweeting 2012 and 2012. Howard Balzer @HBalzer721 Gregg Williams suspended indefinitely. What does that mean? Sean Payton suspended for a year. Mickey Loomis eight games and $500,000 fine. Howard Balzer @HBalzer721 Saints $500,000 and lose second-round pick in 2012 and maybe 2013. Some tweeting 2012 and 2012. Williams is gone for the season and his situation will be reviewed by the NFL after the season ends. I hope we never hear from him again......
Malazan Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) How many Superbowl Winning head coaches can get fined for cheating in a decade? It's amazing the same players kvetching about a snitch on this are the same ones who will be lining up to say, "the league needs to take care of players after they're done playing because it's so brutal on their bodies" Edited March 21, 2012 by jeremy2020
Smears Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I dont know, maybe I dont get it. But, how do you suspend a GM for 8 games?? What does that mean?? He cant go to the home games?? Or, he cant make any moves during the duration of the suspension??
