I agree SameoldBills,

Zimmerman probably doesn't deserve to spend the rest of his life in jail, but he does deserve some form of punishment.

Even If Trayvon Martin was up to no good which hasn't been proven this is a 17 year old teenager who also didn't deserve to die at the hands of a neighborhood watch person.

Kids make mistakes, this could just as easily been your kid or my kid...

So, you call a "ground and pound" with GZ's head on the cement just a mistake? GZ most likely prevented his own death by shooting TM. What would you have done? Keep in mind Rachel Jenteals testimony before you spout off on TM being stalked. According to her, TM had the choice and opportunity to enter his dad's girlfriends townhouse but somehow chose to go around to the front of the complex where the altercation took place.

Well, until he started bashing a guy's head against the pavement...

http://www.salon.com...rachel_jeantel/. thoughtful people suck! nice job lady journalist.

The Daily News describes her diction as “often difficult-to-understand” and says it’s “cringe-worthy” and “humiliating” that she couldn’t read a letter out loud on the stand because she says, “I don’t read cursive.”

I don't think it's humiliating and cringe-worthy that she can't read cursive... It's humiliating and cringe-worhty because she couldn't read a letter that she claimed she wrote!

It is humiliating and cringe worthy that she's 19, damn near illiterate, has no manners, can hardly speak English, and seems to have no education or understanding of society outside of her idiot friends. It's all cringe worthy and humiliating.

None of this would have happened if Travon hadn't pulled a knife on George.

Or, if he hadn't smashed the windshield of George's SUV.

Or, if his hip hop girlfriend hadn't said on the cell phone, "Travon, why don't you just shiv the mo fo white-azzed cracker?"

Or, if BO had never had the bastard child Travon.

See, things can be made up on the other side too. Just because you say it, doesn't make it real.

Glad to hear you write this. The few talking heads I've heard/read who are desperate for Zimmerman to go to prison have been left with the "she's just 19" defense, as if the fact that she's a manner-less illiterate who still has a senior year of high school left is perfectly acceptable for her age. My son was introduced to cursive at the end of first grade and by the end of second grade had to do all homework, seat work in cursive. How the phuck do you make through 11 years of school and find you are unable to write or read cursive?

I'd be interested in hearing an interview with her parents. And maybe some of her teachers.

Ironically the same people are declaring war on wests daughter for the Instagram pic of their family eating ice cream and her saying she was excited that her dad was killing the defense (clearly a poor word choice, but....)

It's not her parents' fault, it's society's for keeping her down and not spoonfeeding her opportunity whether she is capable of taking advantage of it or not.

It's not her teachers' fault, they need more money to properly educate her. Less hours and better working conditions also. A Cadillac healthcare plan for the teachers would be helpful to her education as well (exempt from Obamacare penalties, of course).

Stop being racist.

Not about her, but I just saw this article today....

Why MBA-bound Johnny can’t write

The professor, who has been teaching business and law students at some of America’s top universities for 50 years, told an MBA class that clear writing would be essential in their careers.

...

Were they grateful? “The students complained so vigorously to the dean that the dean urged me to stop.” The students said that in business today they did not need to know how to write. “E-mails and tweets are the medium of exchange. So, they argued, the constant back-and-forth gives one an opportunity to correct misunderstandings caused by unclear thinking and writing.” The dean insisted that the professor make the writing exercise voluntary. By the end of the term, only one student, a non-native English speaker, was submitting the assignments.

Here you go guys. GZ re-enacting the events of the night before with the police investigators. This was before he had hired an attorney. I wonder if the prosecution will show it to the jury? Anyway, it's pretty powerful stuff.

wow that Video is dead on matching testimony so far. The women who arrived late saw Zimmerman on top. The guy who was early saw him on bottom and punches going down. Wow

The question is really a simple one: can you follow someone, then chase them down until they are fearful for their life and feeling backed into a corner and ready to fight for their life, and then hide behind "stand your ground"? "Standing your ground" does not allow you to CHASE someone. It allows you to defend yourself. Trayvon Martin was just a punky kid on the way home from the store in the dark and the rain, alone and afraid. Zimmerman was a bully with a gun.

Of course this being FloriDUH who knows - Zimmerman could get off, dump his wife and run off with Casey Anthony. They can move to Texas, hire hookers off Craiglist and then kill them with impunity if they don't feel they get all the service they pay for.

You obviously haven't followed the case and really know nothing of the particulars. This isn't a "stand your ground" case. GZ didn't chase TM down. By the State's own witness, TM was in the shadow of his fathers girlfriend's townhome where he could have easily found safety, but obviously left there to confront GZ a good distance away. TM was in the process of killing GZ when GZ shot him. Did you watch the video I posted? Have you done anything to educate yourself about this?

ED DRISCOLL: Slate Airbrushes Racist Trayvon Martin Headline.

Ann Althouse, with an assist from Michael Barone, describes George Zimmerman’s racial background:

, noting that Elizabeth Warren asserts that she is “1-32nd Native American [and] George Zimmerman, the Florida accused murderer,
had a black grandmother.”

If we’re doing plain old arithmetic here, Zimmerman is
8 times
as black as Warren is Native American.
(At the genetic level, it could be a lot more complex — were the identified ancestors 100%? — but that doesn’t explain the error.)

As Althouse concluded, if you “feel a little queasy about doing math, maybe your queasiness will carry over into wondering what the hell are we doing calculating racial percentages! It really is quite disgusting.”

Much more disgusting are the racial games the MSM are playing with this trial; keep the above details from Althouse and Barone in mind, as we’ll be returning to them momentarily. On Thursday afternoon, Washington Post-owned Slate ran an article on Zimmerman with the following headline and lede:

slate_zimmerman_white_6-29-13.jpg

You’ll notice that’s a Google cache, as the headline was changed at some point today by Slate after they were reminded that Zimmerman is Hispanic. (You can see a couple of heads up to Slate in the comments to their Facebook page below.) The headline and subhead now read, “I Don’t Feel Your Pain — A failure of empathy perpetuates racial disparities.”

At Newsbusters yesterday, Paul Bremmer noted in a post written before Slate changed its headline that the actual article has little to do with the incident involving Zimmerman and Martin, once it gets past its original racialist headline and lede:

Zimmerman and Martin were only mentioned in the opening paragraph, but that prominent placement indicates that Silverstein was trying to tie them into his larger point about the “racial empathy gap.” Here is that opening paragraph in its entirety:

“George Zimmerman followed Trayvon Martin because he perceived him as dangerous. The defense argues he was, the prosecution argues he wasn’t. No one, of course, argues that Zimmerman approached Martin with kindness, or stopped to consider the boy as anything other than suspicious, an outsider. Ultimately Zimmerman shot and killed Martin. A lack of empathy can produce national tragedies. But it also drives quieter, more routine forms of discrimination.”

There’s no direct mention of race in that passage, but the implication is clear when you read the rest of the article. Silverstein believes Zimmerman felt no empathy for Martin because Martin was black. But keep in mind that Zimmerman, as a Hispanic, is also a minority. Most of the studies that Silverstein cited dealt only with white participants. So Zimmerman’s connection to the racial empathy gap is highly questionable.

As Bremmer concluded, “Slate shouldn’t be using the Zimmerman trial to accuse all Americans of a lack of empathy for blacks.”

Well, yes. Especially when Zimmerman is of a diverse mixed ethnic background himself.

Which the media keep failing to note.

Trayvon Martins got a right to walk anywhere he wants, its a free country. As far as the ground and pound goes If a wierd person started chasing me for no reason, catches up and tries tp subdue me, i would do the same thing. Are you going to try and tell me that wasn't Zimmerman's intentions?

It was his intention's, because common sense should tell you as much, he caught up with the guy, started losing a fight he never should have been in in the 1st place, then shot the guy.

so get real with this Travon martin did wrong for protecting himself from an aggresive stanger, its BS

BS X 10 when DC Toms connected, hehe

Yes, the Zimmerman trial is a racial circus.

In response to Martin Family Atty: ‘We don’t believe the focus was really race”:

That’s a remarkable statement to come from the Martin legal team,
since race is the only reason we’re having this trial at all
. Everyone from the Martin family’s lawyers, to the professional grievance industry, to characters like the New Black Panther Party was busy whipping up riot conditions and treating Zimmerman as a fugitive from racial justice, which led to filmmaker Spike Lee endangering the lives of an innocent couple that just happened to be named “Zimmerman.” And there’s a good reason the media referred to Zimmerman as “white” until photos of him finally leaked out, and they had to change it to “white Hispanic,” a very special demographic of which George Zimmerman seems to remain the only high-profile member.

Now playing in the Theater of Racial Reconciliation: the George Zimmerman trial.

TalkLeft says:

Lawyers for the [Trayvon] Martin family now say the case is not about racial profiling or race.... Then why did Benjamin Crump say race was "the elephant in the room." Racial injustice was the core of their argument. It was always about race to them. Race was what they used to transform this local shooting into a case of national importance.

Meanwhile, at Instapundit:

IT’S REALLY BEGINNING TO LOOK AS IF CHARGES NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN BROUGHT HERE:

Watching much of the trial these last 3 days, I've come to believe that the prosecution is conducting a theatrical performance in racial reconciliation. It wasn't politically easy to decline to prosecute Zimmerman, even though the evidence showed he could not be convicted, so this prosecution was mounted to demonstrate to the public that Zimmerman should not be convicted. I'm not condoning this use of the power to prosecute. I'm simply observing what is happening. I think the trial is theater, and if it's done right — with people like Crump contributing what they can — the people who got stirred up in Act I can experience catharsis.
