B-Man Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 ABC President Obama’s remarks today about the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin drew scowls from GOP presidential contender New Gingrich, who called them “disgraceful” and divisive. “What the president said in a sense is disgraceful. It’s not a question of who that young man looked like,” Gingrich said on Sean Hannity’s radio show. President Obama today offered a personal reflection on the tragic shooting the Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, saying the incident requires all Americans to “do some soul searching.” “When I think about this boy, I think about my own kids,” Obama told reporters.... Gingrich said on the radio show: ”Any young American of any ethnic background should be safe period. We should all be horrified no matter what the ethnic background. Is the president suggesting that if it had been a white who had been shot that would be ok because it didn’t look like him?” He went added that it’s “just nonsense dividing this country up. It is a tragedy this young man was shot. It would have been a tragedy if he had been Puerto Rican or Cuban or if he had been white or if he had been Asian American of if he’d been a Native American. At some point we ought to talk about being Americans. When things go wrong to an American. It is sad for all Americans.” Gingrich, a former speaker of the House of Representatives, said: “Trying to turn it into a racial issue is fundamentally wrong. I really find it appalling.”
Jim in Anchorage Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 doubtful Alaskans = Canadians without the high moral standards, good manners, and quality education. This obsession you have with Alaska is bizzare, considering you have proven time and time again know nothing about it. Any rape stats for us today?

CookieG Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Do you think you might be taking a leap here? Leap? By stating the jurisdictional basis for federal involvement? Law enforcement should no longer investigate potential crimes? In light of Tawana Brawley and the Duke lacrosse team you might just want to sit back and see how the evidence develops. This Travyon Martin is lying about being shot to death? Zimmerman deserves due process while too many people on this board think a lynch mob is the way to go. Who's denying him due process? He hasn't had ANY process yet. Did you hear of the white boy that got gas thrown all over him and then burned? Sure did. Did you hear about the African American set on fire by the white guys in Council Grove, Kansas a few months ago? Same thing, doused him with gas and lit a match. Few have heard of it, it probably didn't get past regional coverage. Why? The police investigated, gathered evidence, made a probable cause determination. No need for protests, no need for politicians to get involved. That's always been the issue here, whether a bona fide investigation took place.

I've been trying to establish that point for a few days now. The fact that this was not investigated or at least doesn't look like it was investigated is enough to get the DoJ involved.

Jim in Anchorage Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 And yet if someone suggested drilling for oil way up there, he's be in hysterics over the idea. True. Doubt if he could point out ANWR within 500 miles on a map. Knows what Palin had for breakfast though.

The fact that this was not investigated or at least doesn't look like it was investigated is enough to get the DoJ involved. You haven't been trying to establish anything close to reality. How can you say it wasn't investigated? You know nothing about this other than Al Sharpton's "opinion". Wait to find out and don't just be some partisan hack making assumptions. Who knows, Zimmerman might be some wacko lefty who killed Trayvon because he thought he was going to vote Republican.

Wrong again, I wrote a paper on Arctic National wildlife refuge in high school, don't remember much except it's about the size of South Carolina and it has the Canadian Yukon on it's eastern boarder, also knew a guy who worked in Prudhoe Bay and Sourdough, he said you go to Alaska make some money and get the hell out, only the !@#$ing dummies stay.

Oh sorry I had no idea your comprehensive research included talking to some dumb a** welder from Texas who worked on the slope and was counting the days until he was back at Joe Billy Bob's knocking off lone stars. How can I compete with that?

How can I compete with that? Hey don't give up! you're from Anchorage you're ahead of the nation and even your fellow Alaskans. The city violent crime rate for Anchorage in 2009 was higher than the national violent crime rate average by 104.51% and the city property crime rate in Anchorage was higher than the national property crime rate average by 21.23%. In 2009 the city violent crime rate in Anchorage was higher than the violent crime rate in Alaska by 38.75% and the city property crime rate in Anchorage was higher than the property crime rate in Alaska by 24.93%.

Who knows, Zimmerman might be some wacko lefty who killed Trayvon because he thought he was going to vote Republican. The reality is that it looks as though the case was mishandled by the local police. Seems that it was an obvious racial killing and the killer got off on "self defense". As a result the DoJ is doing an investigation into the matter since it looks like it was mishandled. Before there was any national attention nothing was being done. After national attention something is being done. See how that works? You keep saying to sit back and see how the facts turn out. But if it weren't for all the national attention there wouldn't even be an investigation to find out what the facts were.

Jealousy Which State Consumes The Most Online Porn?By Chris Walters on March 5, 2009 10:24 PM —>Utah, that's which state! Or so says Harvard researcher Ben Edelman, who "analyzed subscriber data from the top 10 sellers of online adult entertainment.'" When comparing broadband subscribers, Utah comes in first with an average of 5.47 per 1000. In second place is Alaska with just over 5.03 per 1000, and coming in third is Mississippi. Despite my best efforts I can't get NY into the top three. Edited March 24, 2012 by ....lybob
Jim in Anchorage Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 (edited) Jealousy Despite my best efforts I can't get NY into the top three. You have got to be kidding me. You are mocking Alaska on % of downloaded adult entertainment? Who did you vote for, Pat Robinson? I thought liberals were "enlightened" on lifestyles? More important then your typical babbling, Harvard has a researcher on staff that breaks down porn by state? Wow. Edited March 24, 2012 by Jim in Anchorage
Alaska Darin Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 You have got to be kidding me. You are mocking Alaska on % of downloaded adult entertainment? Who did you vote for, Pat Robinson? I thought liberals were "enlightened" on lifestyles? More important then your typical babbling, Harvard has a researcher on staff that breaks down porn by state? Wow. The reason he supposedly "hates" Alaska is because he "thinks" in his tiny "mind" that it's how he's going to get to me. You're playing directly into his desperately childish game. The correct response to that post is nothing, because that's pretty much what he brings to the table - and because the perception that Alaska somehow sucks is a net positive at the end of the day. It keeps a whole bunch of terminally stupid people from coming up and !@#$ing it up for the rest of us.
RkFast Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 (edited) Wanting justice for the murder of a 17 year old kid is agenda driven and just stupid. You're really upset bro! If you think all the energy given to this case is simply about "wanting justice" I have a bridge to sell you.Right now, human beings are trying to suck political power, money and even election votes out of Trevon quicker than the maggots are trying to suck the blood out of him. If you cant see that, youre blind. Edited March 24, 2012 by RkFast
