Guess I'm saying that I'm on the same page with Nix in thinking they really are just a couple of guys away from division contender ASSUMING less injuries.

Put another way - I believe Nix thinks they should have fewer injuries this year (because last year was worse than normal) and therefore the Bills are better than a "6-10 team" which is why he thought it was worth pulling the trigger this year on the mega deal for MW.

AND therefore OBD may be a little less concerned with depth than those of us who see them lose a ton of guys to injury far too often. Not to dispute that - as they've said - "you can always use more depth" - just that I don't think they're focused on it as much.

I don't disagree with much of this, or what Nix is saying really.

If we get those "couple" guys that fill in depth and possible weak spots, then we're golden. If we can't because we are out of money, then we might not get much better, *depending* on injuries.

If we are healthy all year, we'll be in contention for the AFCE title. But we haven't been healthy for a full season in a very long time.

I haven't looke recently but we had $32 million rollover and after amonitized bonus's and new deals we signed the Bills are down to about $23 million I believe. IF williams is truly getting $16 million a year, and I believe our cash to cap system is how it will hit our cap,THEN we have about $7 million left over. They'll need to save about 5-6 million for rookies and such.

Assuming you are right, and it looks like it, lets say on top of all that we sign one more FA. That's the end of Freddies' re-negotiation cause there is no room left, play under your contract FJ

I think they are starting to build some depth.

The draft should also go a long way into adding to that, either by picking guys that will be starters immediately, or buy adding guys that need a year

OT in round one. Allows Pears/Hairston to fight over RT spot. Either way then you have 7 guys that have played significant time.

Round 2 should provide another starter, maybe OLB or CB or WR.

Round 3 -4 will provide guys fighting for playing time/depth. That is three more players, since Bills have two 4th rounders.

Rounds 5-7 should be prospects or guys that maybe can develope a year and then be contributors. Maybe even get a ST guy.

As far as Kraft goes, he is a smart guy, but also a lucky guy.

He wants everyone to forget that Brady was a seventh round pick...basically they won the lottery.

It is like a guy who won $200mil trying to give you business advice. No thanks.

And since the Pats got busted cheating they have not won a super bowl. I bring this up because in the hay day of the Pats if you gave Bellicheat two weeks to prepare he never lost...and maybe now we know why?

I can't wait to see how "smart" the Pats organization is going to look when Tom Brady leaves the building for good.

Is this going to be similar to how "smart" they looked when Brady went down for the year in the first game of 2008, and some guy by the name of Cassel stepped in and led them to an 11-5 record?

Depends. If brady got injured LAST year, that was probably a 5 win team at most. The year they lost Brady they had an awesome defense. Last year, they had one of the worst.... For right now, brady and his coach are carrying that team.

I know many of you guys do your homework better than some of the guys that get paid to look this stuff up. But, my question is after signing Mario exactly how much more cap space do we have? Who can we re-sign or maybe have to let go? Can we afford paying our rookies this upcoming year? I'd appreciate the info. Thanks.

Well WGR listed the contract deals, looks like it will only be about a $9 million cap hit this year, goes up to $11 million next year. So assuming my previous figure of $23 million is correct, subtract the $9 million and it looks like the Bill have about $14 million left over.

Plenty of money to shop more FA or extend a Freddie.
