bbb Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I read in one of the closed threads that we've been screwed over by 2 FAs. Is that just somebody assuming Williams is going to screw us over?
QCity Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Meachum Smeachum TBH, I didn't understand why we were targeting him in the first place. His numbers are very low, especially for a season where his QB broke the yardage record.
Tcali Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 meachum..yawwn mario--we get that done then we know the bills are finally getting it.
Geno Smith's Arm Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 All the people involved in these negotiations are adults. They all know the realities of the situation. To speculate about any of this, when none of us truly know the circumstances is silly.
rayray808 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 if Mario leaves town tomorrow without signing, he is as good as gone, and we have officially LOST this year in free agency
Geno Smith's Arm Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 if Mario leaves town tomorrow without signing, he is as good as gone, and we have officially LOST this year in free agency The Washington Redskins usually "win" it. It won't be the end of the Bills season...
ryan42790 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I'm really surprised. 24 hours ago almost everyone was not counting The Bills to even be a contender for Mario Williams. Now he's in town and everyone is basically hinging the 2012-2013 season on this signing alone.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Man I hope he signs, I think I'll hate him more than Brian Cox if he pulls a Meachem.
truth on hold Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) @Union2008, read the article on nfl.com which I can't link from mobile. He was scheduled to meet with at least one other team all along. What youre posting is simply wrong. And What the bills wanted to do by Friday was irrelevant to his plans. Dragonborn10 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Buffalo will be the laughingstock of the NFL if Mario leaves tomorrow. He will probably make the Bills fly him to his next interview.
ryan42790 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Man I hope he signs, I think I'll hate him more than Brian Cox if he pulls a Meachem. Yeah. Well hopefully Mario has a little more class than that.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 "Among the teams that are reportedly still hoping to get an audience with Williams are the Bears and the Titans. Some team will almost certainly make Williams the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history, and that team might be the Bills. But it won’t be today." http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/13/report-mario-williams-leaving-buffalo-without-signing-will-visit-others/
NickelCity Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Wait - is today today or today yesterday? Today is yesterday ... according to that article. (I assume )
bbb Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Today is yesterday ... according to that article. (I assume ) Now I have to listen to a great old Billy Joel song called Tomorrow is Today.
ganesh Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I am with you on this. I do not see how Williams is worth that kind of money. Big question in my mind. People want the big flash signings, big names and and big bucks, but I am not convinced that is the right track. I would rather see the Bills plug in two quality players for the same price rather than bet the farm on either VJ or Williams. The key is there are no "two quality" players that you can get in the NFL. Last time we did, ended up with two slouches... There is always a possibility for a FA to go bust. At least Williams is a superstar in the league. I don't know if the Bills will be able to sign him today, but the mere fact that they flew him personally into Buffalo, means they are serious about this stuff.

As far as whats been reported, he's staying Buffalo for the night. So there is still a chance
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 What's the weather like in Buffalo?... It is like 55 here now and gonna be almost 80 tomorrow! If the weather is the same... That's a plus! Not too bad for mid-March!

Not too bad for mid-March! It's supposed to be 61 Wednesday. Tuesday was real nice, too. Buffalo is the new Atlanta.
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Say he goes to a city that gives him more of a "cosmopolitan life" (whatever that means, not trying to get anybody's ire up)... YET takes less in $ than BFLO offered... Is this a red-flag for the league? It's supposed to be 61 Wednesday. Tuesday was real nice, too. Buffalo is the new Atlanta. COOL! What a stretch we are having... Got through the whole winter season @ work without (well, just a little here and there) ANY ice... Last year we had +20 inches on the river!
