T master Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) Well to all of you out there in Bills land that always harp on how cheap Ralph is , I don't know that you can say that any more. Especially seeing as they have spent around $60 mill in guaranteed money in the recent contracts that they have finished up lately , although there will be those of you that will say he is because he doesn't do what a Jerry Jones or a Washington owner does & blows every last cent & more that they have to still put up a losing team .. I think Buddy has a lot to do with what is going on at 1 Bills Dr. Buddy is definitely a good football guy , the past regimes i think didn't have a clue ! I think they actually thought they were putting the best players they had in place to be a winning team .. But for once in a long time i think the Bills are on the right track & in part b/c our cheap ass owner (according to some) has come off the money to keep the core players that we need to compete b/c those in charge actually know what they are doing .. For those of you out there that are still looking for a Mario Williams to walk through the door at 1 Bills Dr. (keep dreaming) but that is the reason why we have the money to sign the guys we have is b/c they didn't give Jason Peters the huge contract - like a Dallas , Pittsburgh , & others would have done & are now scrambling to get rid of a bunch of salary just to field a decent team this season . I think we will find our Mario , but Buddy is doing it the right way through the draft , which no matter what those of you think b/c you are a product of todays world SPEND - SPEND - SPEND i am glad that Ralph is a bit old school & runs a company so that there is a profit margin & not running the company from the stand point of always being in the red which in todays world is the norm !! Being in a small market the Bills half to pay attention to how the money is being spent & not spending like the rest of the country above and beyond what the check book has in it & i'm glad they are that way & when we start winning & being viable again , generating more money then we can spend a bit more , but until then -- Rock On Ralph , Buddy & GO BILLS !!!!!!!!!! Edited March 8, 2012 by T master
Dorkington Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I'm taking a wait and see approach, honestly. SJ and KW seem like solid deals. Dunno about Fitz. What will we do in FA? Etc... Last year, definitely... but now that I see what they may be doing this year, maybe last year was a setup year to clear more cap for this year (rollover). If we can attract a couple FAs, then I'll step away from stingy owner opinions.
swnybillsfan Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 mr. wilson has doled out large sums of money in the past to people who in hindsight didn't come close to earning it. and he (or the gm at the time) has saved some money by not signing players that he/they thought were either past their prime or just not worth the money. they can't all be winners, but with this crew in place right now, i like our chances.
DC Grid Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 So far this offseason the Bills have resigned two starters at extremely reasonable prices. That is it. Does it prove Ralph is cheap...well not until we see how he books the contracts (uses last years roll over or not, cash to cap book keeping or not)...but it sure as heck does nothing to prove he isn't cheap. Again, book the contracts to create maximum cap space and then actually sign some money FAs and maybe the cheap label is innaccurate. Until then, any label Ralph has earned through years of bs is his to live and die with.
