buffalo1983 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 @WGR550: RT @buffalobills: The #Bills today signed WR Ruvell Martin to a contract extension. Martin had 7 catches for 82yds and T-2nd on team in ST tackles in 2011. http://wgr550.com/Bills-extend-WR-Martin/9034669?pid=224923

K-9 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I have no problem with it. He is a good special teams player. I doubt they broke the bank for him. GO BILLS!!!
Dopey Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I just threw up in my mouth Special Team players are important too.
buffalo1983 Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 He is mainly for special teams and did a good job at all. Having him as a backup at WR is a good thing as well, since half way threw the first half we will probably be down 3 WRs due to injures.
Homer Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 He made some good plays on ST...I like it just for that.
swnybillsfan Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 good signing. special teams are absolutely important, and i think with ota's and a full camp he could fit in well as a reserve reciever.
janicks Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I just threw up in my mouth Come on now. When the opportunity to resign a wide reciever who can't catch comes to you, you have to jump all over it. But seriously, he did seem competent on special teams, so I would guess this a near vet's minimum deal, which is fine by me, so long as he never ever takes the field with the offense.
buffalo1983 Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 "Martin tied for second on the team in special teams tackles in 2011" That's why he is back with the team. Good signing!

timba Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Good signing for special teams. Hopefully he doesn't have to play any WR this year, guy just can't catch.
DreamOnDan Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Roster Fodder I hope, glad to see that i'm the only one that doesn't like the move. LOL Maybe i will reconsider. Meh, kinda hope he doesn't make the team. That would be considered a good thing, would it not? If he is getting paid more than 1.2 mil i don't like it. Anything less, good special teams player, so I will agree with the good move as long as it is cheap... I'm hoping by week 1 the receiving core looks like: 1. Steve Johnson 2. Free Agent/draft pick (I prefer Laurent Robinson, Brandon Lloyd, or Mario Manningham) 3. David Nelson 4. Marcus Easley 5. Donald Jones 6. Winner of preseason Derek Hagan/Kamar Aiken/Naman Roosevelt/Ruvell Martin competition 7. Then we have Brad Smith so I don't even know if they will keep 6 Wr due to Smith playing ST, QB, and WR all well in his respective roles
Maddog69 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Don;t forget they also signed David Clowney a few weeks ago
Captain Hindsight Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 This guy wasnt an MVP candidate last year! What are they doing at OBD?
