WickedGame Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Would you sign the following player? 4-3 defensive end Pass rush specialist Two-time Pro Bowler 78 sacks over 8 years Career high of 14 sacks in a single season Former 2nd round pick 34 years old

GO BILLS!!!
b stein 22 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 waste of a roster space and I would rather develop our players

RyanC883 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I said yes, but given his age you have to factor cost into it. Those who want to "develop" our young players have a point, but so far they are not ready. I'm sure we'll draft someone who is ready, and this mystery man could help the young players develop. He wouldn't have to play every snap, thus giving some to the younger guys.

NoSaint Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Sounds an awful lot like Abraham, and at this point I have doubt that he is a full-time starter. Well - abraham was very part time last year (50% of snaps?) And schobel was pushing 300 last I heard Just to address why both are bad.
K-9 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Sounds an awful lot like Abraham, and at this point I have doubt that he is a full-time starter. It's Aaron Schobel. And there is NO doubt he is isn't a part-time starter, let alone full time. GO BILLS!!!
prenzoni Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 It's Aaron Schobel. And there is NO doubt he is isn't a part-time starter, let alone full time. GO BILLS!!! I also voted no. Abraham has 112 career sacks.
WickedGame Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 It is, in fact, Aaron Schobel. I don't think we should bring him back, but it's an interesting thought (and that's about it). Sure, he's 34, but he's spent two of those years not getting pounded. Fred Jackson is past the premium age for running backs, but that's offset by the fact he wasn't pounding out 1,000-1,500 yards when he was 23 or 24 years old. Intriguing, though...even at his age, I bet Schobel could unretire and at least earn a roster spot in rotation somewhere. A proven pass rusher is still a proven pass rusher, after all.

If he had any desire to play, he would be. We called his bluff and he wasn't bluffing.
