Buffalo Barbarian Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Bills general manager Buddy Nix told the team’s website that management plans to reward Jackson with a contract extension. Jackson will turn 31 on Feb. 25, but nothing about him indicates an imminent decline in production. DrDawkinstein Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Just reported on ESPN as well, that Jackson was in negotiations with the Bills. Between Jackson, Routt, SJ13, and all of our own FAs, and the FAs coming from other teams... it's a busy time for Nix and Whaley at OBD!!

Maddog69 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 This is good news, although really not new. Buddy said the same thing at the beginning of the off season. It is nice that they do legitimaely seem to understand the value that Freddy brings to the team on the field, in the locker room and in the community.
DanInUticaTampa Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 People are still going to speculate that we are going to trade or not extend Fred. People are ridiculous.

Couple this with Freddie's statements on WGR that he has no plans of holding out, no matter what happens, and I'd say this is all one big non-story.

If he keeps this up he will still be able to get his nap in when FA starts. Spiller wants to start http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/10/jackson-may-get-extension-but-spiller-wants-to-start/ He can start right behind Fred, one good month doesn't overtake Fred.

Is this fresh news or just a rehash of Buddy's presser from a few weeks ago? Fred said nothing was happening contract-wise when on WGR recently. PTR

Does Florio often pull stuff out of his ass like this in the off season trying to create a controversy?

Hater Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Its a mistake resigning Jackson he is 31 coming off an Injury plus you have a good young back who showed he is more than capable of starting, Buddy needs to learn from the Fitzpatrick signing that you don't sign a player just because you personally like them they have to be able to play

And we all know that Freddy doesn't fit THAT bill.

It's not a career-ending injury so calm down. 2. Jackson is 31 with the legs of a 25/27 yr old. 3. FJ has been tearing it up the last 2 seasons..I think he can play.
