San Jose Bills Fan Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Winning teams make more plays and commit fewer mistakes. I fail to see the logic of trying to diminish the winning team's achievement with posts like yours. Yeah because obviously I was trying to diminish the winning team's achievement. Thanks for straightening me out with your superior character. My point was that it takes some luck to win a football game… any football game. I thought that was obvious.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I think the Brady mystique and aura is over. He's one of the all time greats but not the best ever. He makes mistakes and can even look ordinary when you knock him around. Defense won this SB, but both QB's were terrific. Today, Eli was better. If I could ever put my pats distain aside, I would probably have to bring myself to admit that the guy does make a bad team good. His wr's aside from welker have been lousy. D is abysmal, etc....
Doc Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 If I could ever put my pats distain aside, I would probably have to bring myself to admit that the guy does make a bad team good. His wr's aside from welker have been lousy. D is abysmal, etc.... You sound like Cowherd. Gronk and Hernandez are mismatches for any defense, Welker is a top WR, Branch is still a decent WR who had a rebirth after coming back to the Pats, BG-E is a tough runner who doesn't fumble, and their O-line does a good job of keeping Brady clean. There's hardly a dearth of talent on their offense.
Koufax Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Wow, the Patriots now join the Vikings, Broncos, and another team I can't quite put my finger on as four time Super Bowl losers. Is it okay to admit I was actually rooting for the hail mary to be caught?

Welker will no doubt be tagged but if Green Ellis walks that is not a small loss....that guy is as efficient as they come.
PromoTheRobot Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 (edited) No question? Not for me, and I've been watching football since '69, IMO there is no QB I want to see less at the end if a game if I'm clinging to a lead. Do you realize Brady averages a SB appearance every other season? Think about that. That's my opinion. Something that apparently I'm not allowed to have anymore. Jim in Anchorage Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I can't fathom what you girls are still bickering about. This is mainly just suck dikc Brady and belicheck. What else could this thread be for at this point? Good night. This is not a bills forum It's I hate NE forum. Are you new?
truth on hold Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Yeah because obviously I was trying to diminish the winning team's achievement. Thanks for straightening me out with your superior character. My point was that it takes some luck to win a football game… any football game. I thought that was obvious. Umm ok mr sarcasm. I won't bother addressing that part. But if you don't think your literal statement "Hell, the Giants weren't inarguably deserving of beating the Niners" wouldnt be construed as an attempt to make giants seem unworthy, I'd suggest brushing up on your English language skills.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 But if you don't think your literal statement "Hell, the Giants weren't inarguably deserving of beating the Niners" wouldnt be construed as an attempt to make giants seem unworthy, I'd suggest brushing up on your English language skills. I'd suggest you take some lessons in accepting people's words for what that person says they mean, not what you decide they mean. My point was not that the teams weren't deserving of being in the Super Bowl. My point was that luck plays a part in determining what team wins and loses a football game. It's not automatic that the winning team is the most deserving team. And pointing out that luck plays a role is not always an attempt at diminishing a team's accomplishments.
DocLawless Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 (edited) @ crunch time you make your own luck. Gmen got a TD drive starting with something like 4 mins on the clock, highlighted by the brilliant throw and catch to Manningham. NO LUCK JUST SKILL. Pats had almost a min left, and couldn't answer. Everything that came before was irrelevant at that point. No luck just skill? You sound like a typical giants fan. Truth is nobody gets luckier or more breaks than the giants. That was the first completion of over 30 yards manningham had ALL SEASON and was the luckiest grab I've seen since tyree caught a HAIL MARY pass on his helmet while completely covered in the middle of the field by Rodney Harrison. Not to mention they wouldn't of even been in the superbowl if punt returner Kyle Williams for the niners hadn't fumbled the NFC championship away. Luck had everything to do with BOTH giant championships Edited February 6, 2012 by DocLawless
bbb Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 &&^%*&^&%**!&@#%*#* I could't believe the Pats didn't let him score on first. Then they open it up and the Giants lose their minds and push it in. Just let Eli take a knee Gilbride Why weren't the Giants ready for them to do that. I think by the Pats playing straight up on first, it let Bradshaw think they would do it again........But, why didn't the Giants take a knee twice? We were debating this at the party and I thought they should (but then again when Chan did it - we were tied, right, so it wasn't risking the loss right there?)
jester43 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 This is not a bills forum It's I hate NE forum. Are you new? ha- yeah i'm new. no...obviously i had one too many hop devils because that's what i was trying to say.

Nanker Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 All I can say is, congratulations Giants. Too bad Buffalo can't get good coordinators like Gilbride and Fewell.
jester43 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 All I can say is, congratulations Giants. Too bad Buffalo can't get good coordinators like Gilbride and Fewell. if it wasn't so sad it would be funny...not that it isn't still funny..
1billsfan Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 (edited) if it wasn't so sad it would be funny...not that it isn't still funny.. Their success is much more about Jerry Reese (current GM) and Eli Manning (drafted by Ernie Accorsi) than about the coordinators. That being said, I'm very happy for Perry Fewell who I had wanted to stay as our HC. He's a very good coach and I'm sure his learning from Coughlin these last two years has made him an even better one. Edited February 6, 2012 by 1billsfan
KD in CA Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Why weren't the Giants ready for them to do that. I think by the Pats playing straight up on first, it let Bradshaw think they would do it again........But, why didn't the Giants take a knee twice? We were debating this at the party and I thought they should (but then again when Chan did it - we were tied, right, so it wasn't risking the loss right there?) I don't think they had Eli take a knee because A FG carries a lot of risk and the Giants have a couple dark spots in their history with playoff FGs. Coughlin mentioned the Ravens game in his post game interview, and remember the GW FG against San Fran had a low snap. I think he was happy to get up by 4 and force Brady to go 80 yards in under a minute; it's a completely different strategy when the other team is forced to score a TD. Their success is much more about Jerry Reese (current GM) and Eli Manning (drafted by Ernie Accorsi) than about the coordinators. Absolutely right. The Giants have been drafting well for years, and it shows.
Doc Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Actually Welker and BJGE are both unrestricted free agents. Welker will no doubt be tagged but if Green Ellis walks that is not a small loss....that guy is as efficient as they come. True they're UFA's after the season, but the point is they're good players, among other good players on that offense. It's not just Brady and a bunch of stiffs, which was the contention. Why weren't the Giants ready for them to do that. I think by the Pats playing straight up on first, it let Bradshaw think they would do it again........But, why didn't the Giants take a knee twice? We were debating this at the party and I thought they should (but then again when Chan did it - we were tied, right, so it wasn't risking the loss right there?) Yep, shoulda taken the knee. Bradshaw was told to go down prior to the GL and he tried, meaning they didn't want to score a TD. Dumb. Luckily they pulled it out. All I can say is, congratulations Giants. Too bad Buffalo can't get good coordinators like Gilbride and Fewell. Too bad they can't get a QB like Manning or a pass rush like the Giants have.
