As often as these are re-released, why don't they just get it over with and rename all the Star Wars movies "George Lucas Needs Another Mansion."

C'mon DC. Before VCR's were created, movie studios used to re-release movies in theatres all the time.

I love going to see films on the silver screen. The way they were meant to be experienced.

I don't care what George calls them, I just hope he never gets mad and doesn't use the lube.

In 3D?

I had a cringe moment this weekend when my girlfriend said she wants to see Titanic in 3D. So you want to sit through 2.5 hours of nothing just to get to a couple scenes that might be interesting in 3D? I can't imagine sitting through a 3 hour movie with those glasses on. I can already feel the headache I would have.

I saw Star Wars the first time on a theatrical re-release.

I just wish Lucas would stop !@#$ing with them and passing them off as "Better this time, really!" Digitize, re-release. 3-D, re-release. Add a scene with Jabba, Greedo shoots first, re-release. And you can't even get the original theatrical version anymore. For the sake of the franchise, Lucas needs to be hit over the head. Repeatedly.

I'd probably go if they released the true versions in 3D. The thing about Lucas though is that he knows exactly what he's doing. He's milking as much money as possible and someday the next money move will be to release those original versions. It may take another 20 years, but it will happen someday.

...and then he'll start all over with the tweaks

All of the recent movies that have been re-released in 3D(The Lion King, Beauty & the Beast), have also had screenings in the regular 2D format. I would not be surprised if Star Wars Episode I also has non-3D showings.

I rented the Innkeepers on iTunes. I recommend it, much scarier than the Woman in Black (which wasn't bad, just nothing special). The director's previous film, the House of the Devil, was fantastic, and this had kind of the same slow burn, atmospheric horror element to it more so than stuff popping out a la Paranormal Activity. My only main complaint is that it took a little too long for anything to happen--I think the first half of the movie could have been shortened by 10-20 mins without losing anything. Otherwise, I was very happy, and definitely creeped out.

  • 3 weeks later...

Paul Rudd & Jennifer Aniston star in "Wanderlust". Rattled by sudden unemployment, a Manhattan couple surveys alternative living options, ultimately deciding to experiment with living on a rural commune where free love rules. Also starring Malin Akerman, Justing Theroux, Ray Liotta & Alan Alda.

Absolutely one of the worse movies I have ever wasted money on.

We saw this, it was pretty funny. Kind of a Fargo-lite; good cast.
