DevilsAlum Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 From Steve Tasker's twitter account: Word has it that former roomy of mine may be the new TE coach of the Buffalo Bills! He's a really good hire. Pete Metzelaars?
K-9 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Lonnie Johnson? Haha! I was hoping for Tony Hunter myself. GO BILLS!!!

He's a really good hire. Pete Metzelaars? They definitely roomed together so that must be it. Good to see one of our glory year players back in the fold, and he has quality coaching experience.
CBD Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) Will that Olean Times article be updated now? Could there have been a more stupid article written purposely early to make something up to complain about? I mean the Colts staff only has 3 coaches, should they be mocked for their cheapness? http://www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/article_d7739494-4c0c-11e1-98cb-0019bb2963f4.html JoeB_WGR Joe Buscaglia In response to @SteveTasker89's tweet about a roommate... he did room with Pete Metzelaars back in the day... http://assets.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=4596&print=yes Edited February 1, 2012 by Carey Bender

Pete Metzelaars? I do not know if I like bringing in the former players - is it because it saves money?
OldTimer1960 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I do not know if I like bringing in the former players - is it because it saves money? What's the basis of this? If they have other coaching opportunities, then they aren't coming here for less unless Chan is a VERY charismatic leader. If the implication is that they are hiring unqualified candidates, then well I can't argue with that. Metzelaars has coached in the NFL, though.

Yes, some teams have 20 or more. How many? And how many teams have 17 or less? He never says. Maybe including that info would ruin the jab he was trying to take? PTR
JoeF Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Apparently the hotels in Buffalo were not a limiting factor in Pete's decision
Captain Hindsight Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I do not know if I like bringing in the former players - is it because it saves money? Ralph is Cheap! No I think players just know the club and the owner and realize they have an in. This would be similar to networking I'm sure people have done in the real world
Mike in Syracuse Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I love me some goofy Pete coaching. Sadly, I bet a lot of people here never saw Pete play. Speaking of former TE's, what ever happened to Jay Rearschmegma?
Fisher Bills Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 He coached dallas clark to be a great TE....if Pete is the new TE coach i will be extremly happy
NoSaint Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Ralph is Cheap! No I think players just know the club and the owner and realize they have an in. This would be similar to networking I'm sure people have done in the real world Well - most coaches were players so it makes sense they'd gravitate towards places they have roots when they get chances. Whether it's the city, people in the front office etc... They probably have some sort of positive tie if they are coming back.
