DrDawkinstein Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Surprised this isnt getting much attention here. Im sure most of our lives have been touched by this horrible disease in one way or another. Very cool that Buffalo is leading the way to prevention.
Just Jack Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 On a related note.... Oswego County company makes high-tech equipment that will allow cancer vaccine research A small company in Oswego County is being credited with developing a clean room device that will allow a Buffalo research center work on a new vaccine designed to kill cancer. BioSpherix Ltd., a company about 44 miles north of Syracuse in Lacona, a small village in the town of Sandy Creek, is making a 70-square-foot clean room in a box that costs about $200,000.
PromoTheRobot Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 My daughter is thinking of going into the cancer medicine field and I would love her to study at Roswell. I've been dropping hints and she knows how I feel about Buffalo but she's pretty happy in Philly. PTR

DrDawkinstein Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 The money is in treatment, not cures and prevention. Indeed, but cures and prevention should be the goal. Too bad it's the Medical Industry.
DC Tom Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 The money is in treatment, not cures and prevention. Actually, the money is in management of non-critical-care issues of inconvenience, like impotence or birth control or, in too many cases, high cholesterol or depression.
HopsGuy Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 The money is in treatment, not cures and prevention. I remember saying this once back in '99 when I first started trading stocks. An old-time trader retorted, "Maybe. But if you had the cure to cancer, you could probably set the price pretty high and folks would pay it." That stuck with me.
DrDawkinstein Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 The world could use some more Jonas Salks...

It'd be interesting to see, if they got the vaccine down pat and patented it, how long it would take for whatever company that holds the patent to start fighting its patent expiration so that they can keep the price high. DC Tom Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 The world could use some more Jonas Salks... Actually, that picture caption is wrong... ...oh, never mind. You read it on the internet, it must be true.
707BillsFan Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 As soon as I'd start rooting for them, it'd go all "I Am Legend" and we'd either all be dead or turn into some zombie.
