NYT: Gingrich threatening to boycott debates

Recommended Posts

Obviously it's a lesser of two evils argument, but Mitt can't get Republicans to vote for him (except by holding their noses) and Independents wont' get out and vote for him...I don't see him firing up much of a base.

Romney can't attack healthcare credibly and that's one of Obama's biggest failures.

Agree that he's finally owning who he is and growing a pair. It should help him finally vanquish the field.

You can bet Obama will mention healthcare plenty of times in his populist messages. "I got you affordable healthcare" has been a repeated point over and over again already.

Why not?

All he has to do is say "States' Rights! We did in Massachusetts what we thought would work for Massachusetts. Not North Dakota, not Florida, not Wyoming! I never said this model would work for every state or for the entire country. With a repeal and replace action --- with freeing up health insurance across state lines, tort reform and measures that will reduce costs first rather than simply have people line up to sign up --- each state should be able to decide what it wants to do, given their specific situations."

Win.

There is a reason why the political forecasters have this as tossup sort of election. Obama won't beat him easily, that you can count on, if Rubio accepts the VP offer, I would say that Romney stands at least a 60% shot at winning.

Florida would be locked up, and many states that are battleground states with highlatino populations could be influenced enough at the margins to make te difference.

I like Gov. Susana Martinez in New Mexico. Good chance that locks up Florida AND NM, and it puts Colorado in play. There's no way Obama wins NC, Virginia or Indiana again. Michigan has a lot of ties with the Romney family. He would then only need to win one of the traditional swing states --- Penn. or Ohio. And Ohio is looking pretty red.

Also, people are forgetting the electoral vote changes from the census that favor Republicans.

GOP 2012! You Decide...the 1% or their lobbyist! :P

And if Romney wins the nomination, it'll be the 1% vs. the 1%, at which point the American people can ask themselves, "Which One Percenter to you want? The self-made one who can lead or the media-made one who, three years in, is still blaming his predecessor for the state of the country while telling college students that millionaires pay less in taxes than the middle class?"

If anyone believes any person is elected to office is going to make any real difference, they are an idiot. This country is filled with a bunch of whiny babies. Everyone wants someone to blame for the problems. We have one more choice than a dictatorship. Half of the country is going to hate the person no matter what they do. This country is FUBARed. People need to take care of themselves and stop complaining about the government.

Adam, is that you?

Not sure who Adam is. But all I ever see or hear is whining about politics. Whenever someone disagrees with someone else, it's you're a consevative or you're a liberal. It's like the bloods and crips. Truth is, both parties have their good points and both are flawed.

But a system that has only 2 choices is a weak one.

Adam calls himself "another burned out wannabee", is a pessimist and always sees both sides. I've nicknamed him "yesbut". He's also probably a pretty good guy.

People like me would argue that this is precisely what contributed to us being FUBAR'ed in the first place. I'm personally guilty as hell of ultimately ending my complaints about the government and taking care of only myself for years. I was convinced I could do nothing, so there was no sense in trying. So I'd pull a lever without any thought, or sometimes not bother to pull the lever at all. I was absolutely part of the problem, and I humbly think that suggesting people need to take care of themselves and stop complaining about the government will only expedite the inevitable crash of our country.

Unless you were being sarcastic, in which case I just missed it.

I really don't know who will win this next election, but if a Republican wins, I can't wait to see all the blame placed on Obama for !@#$ing everything up. Say Romney of Gingrich wins, tell me when they, or all your friends here, can no longer complain about what Obama did to ruin the once sparkling, perfect economy, before they sound like little children? What is the moratorium on that? Hell, I have heard some still blaming Clinton for everything that has happened. I get it, you all want Bush to get credit for killing Osama Bin Laden, but no blame for his role in creating the ****ty economy. Makes perfect sense...

The beautiful thing about Obama is that he has so mastered the art of blaming others for his failures, and has been repeatedly pounded for it by conservatives, that conservatives would be hard-pressed to be silent if the next Republican spends a bunchy of time blaming Obama for anything. Though I'm sure the moment a Republican is elected, you'll hear the liberals immediately yelling "Where are the jobs!" like they did after the 2010 election.

I am starting to think there is a fantasy world that you and some others here live in, and then there is the real world. This would be hilarious if most of what you write didn't indicate that you believe this...good luck!

Bribes, Chinese Mob Ties Alleged at Casino of Gingrich's Money Man

The casino company run by the principal financial backer of Newt Gingrich's presidential bid, Sheldon Adelson, has been under criminal investigation for the last year by the Department of Justice and the Securities Exchange Commission for alleged bribery of foreign officials, according to corporate documents.

I couldn't imagine either of these guys as President. Obama is goign to win by default. Of course if Newt wins, he could be in a claim in as ugliest president ever (Nixon currently holds the throne).

I remember when I was in school I had a book with pictures of all the Presidents. One guy looked like Ebeneezer Scrooge big time. I looked it up....Harrison....also Van Buren looks like a character from Scooby Doo and not one of the good guys.....but for ugly overall I would go with Hayes who looks EXACTLY like the old guy from Home Alone.

Gingrich paying himself $47K from campaign funds

For instance, it paid $67,000 for web hosting to Gingrich Productions, which had previously received payments for web development totaling $8,400.

The campaign also paid Gingrich himself $47,000 for a list of supporters, plus another $206,000 for travel.

Maybe he's gotta spring for some earrings for Calista?

I'm sure his donors like to see Mr. Gingrich pocketing the money they send him to campaign with.
