BuffaloBill Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 It's sad to see the loss of local places with the suburbanification ( my word) of America. At the same time with a 12% margin being near the top of the mark you have to wonder how long the family owned concepts can be sustained.
BillnutinHouston Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 MMMMMMM... Buffalo pizza. Nothing better. This article sure helps explain why WNY is so far out of shape.
BillsPride12 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 "People who have lived in other cities say Buffalo has a higher than average number of locally owned pizza joints, and a smaller number of national-chain pizzerias." One of the many things I love about my hometown

shrader Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 http://www.buffalonews.com/city/communities/niagara-county/article719906.ece And the best part? His car wasn't registered. And this reminds me of how much I miss Buffalo pizza. Everything I've had out here in Boston is so cardboardy (yeah, it's a word now). I'm sure there's a decent place out there, I just haven't found it yet.
Wooderson Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 http://www.buffalone...ticle719906.ece I used to work at Pizza Junction and am familiar with the guy. He's a spoiled !@#$ who ran the place into the ground. Instead of focusing on their great pizza, wings, and subs, they decide to start making eggplant parms, lasagnas, alfredo, etc. It's a pizza parlor, not an italian restaurant which is I think what caused the downfall... Btw, the guy that now works at the new Vito's place worked at Pizza Junction from the time it opened 40 years ago. He practically constructed the Pizza Junction pizza. Here's a link with the security video of him hitting the sign: http://tonawandas.wgrz.com/news/news/62853-pizza-dispute-north-tonawanda-turns-ugly
Chef Jim Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I used to love the greasy, doughy WNY pizza I grew up on because....well because it was pizza. But since moving to SF and having tons of the thin crust Neapolitan pizzas they tend to serve here I can't stand that pizza back there. But that's just me.

Naming a pizza after a exiled leader of France is a red flag to me. Those things taste like a cracker with tomato sauce. Give me doughy and greasy every time. Extra pep = x grease.

Remember, pizza's like sex. Even when it's bad it's good.
DrDawkinstein Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 After moving away from Buffalo I was surprised that I could find good wings almost anywhere, but no pizza. I'm living in the middle of Atlanta, and my choices are Dominos or Papa Johns. There is a Buffalo based pizzeria/restaurant called Galla's that does it right, but they are a bit of a drive and definitely too far away to deliver. Pizza and Jim's Chicken Finger Subs are what I miss most about Buffalo food.

So I gotta say you miss chicken finger subs?? Oh wait you're a stoner right? Carry on.
