SageAgainstTheMachine Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Boy am I glad I didn't have some of you for parents! A tat on a ten year old?? I guess I just don't see the issue with such a nice tribute. In some cultures, infants are tattooed...I'm aware that's not American culture but I don't think there's any inherent wrongness to it. What did the Daddy say about it??? Oh, never mind! Huh?

IMO, a ten year old doesn't really appreciate the permanence of the tattoo. But more importantly, does it really benefit a child to imprint a constant reminder of a traumatic experience on his arm? That seems a little counter productive to me from a child physchology standpoint. I'd like to hear an opinion from someone in that field.
BuffaloBill Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Boy am I glad I didn't have some of you for parents! A tat on a ten year old?? I certainly did not suggest that I would allow it. However, I do think one has to take into account the overwhelming grief both the boy and mother must be experiencing. I have a difficult time condemning either for an expression born out of mourning.
