Just Jack Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I think I can see the Captain on shore having a margarita.
The Poojer Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Does it show the cap'n slipping and falling into a lifeboat???
Jim in Anchorage Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Blaming it on his deck shoes Does it show the cap'n slipping and falling into a lifeboat???
Just Jack Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Blaming it on his deck shoes That's why I don't want to be a ship captain. I'm afraid I'd slip and fall into a lifeboat after taking my ship off course so my head waiter can wave to his family and hit a rock that's not on the charts, then claim it's just an electrical problem, while I finish my drinks and dinner with some woman as the ship fills with water and starts to tip onto it's side. So it's the slippery shoes that keep me from that profession.
BuffaloBill Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Detail of the shot is impressive and I highly doubt it is anywhere near what it could be.
Ramius Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 If you look really close, you can see kate and leo floating nearby.

mead107 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Reconstruction of the Costa Concordia Tragedy, Narration by John Konrad WOW!
Chef Jim Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 WOW! That's like sailing and all of a sudden having the winds die to nothing. You don't want to fire up the enginge because you're sailing for God's sake. But it's scary because you have almost zero control over the boat that the currents take over. In this case they also had the winds blowing on the ship's profile that was just blowing it into shore. Scary **** indeed.
DC Tom Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Kind-of impressive that the captain managed to ground the sinking ship by playing the bow thrusters, wind, and current together. Pretty good ship handling. Too bad he wasn't that good WHEN HE HIT THE !@#$ING ISLAND. Dumbass.

DDD Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 And that's the thing. He didn't just hit a reef. He hit the god damn !@#$ing island. Master and commander. That's some fine sailing to avoid the reef and actually ship wreck so close to land.
KD in CA Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Reconstruction of the Costa Concordia Tragedy, Narration by John Konrad That's no tragedy! How many people do you lose on a normal cruse? 30? 40?! It looks like it eased into the water like an old man into a nice warm bath.
