Beerball Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 link He’s considered a smart, accurate quarterback and could be a great fit as a backup in the Eagles’ West Coast offense and an upgrade over Young
T master Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I wish him luck and hope he does well against every other team but ours . I always liked his happy go lucky personality & hoped he would do something for us but once again he didn't !!!
Alan Davidson Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Note that the article mentions he played under routinely awful offensive lines
The Senator Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 If Chan Gailey thought the 12 year-old crowd at St. John Fisher was tough on Fanning-Fan, who will dry his tears when he meets the ever-so-kind sports fans in 'The City of Brotherly Love' ???
Turbosrrgood Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) link I'm happy to see he still has NFL life, he's a guy that's easy to root for. I still don't think he is very good, but he could make a serviceable backup, especially in that type of offense. The fact that his "best year" included 11 TD's in 14 starts, while still throwing 10 picks despite his 66% completion rate, kind of says it all though... Accurate yes...good, no... bowery4 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Andy Reid thinks he can turn anyone with a skill set in to something good enough to be a back up and his track record except with Young isn't that bad at doing just that. Trent may actually be in a position to succeed, good for him. I have no bad feeling left about the guy. Jauron was a QB confidence killer and he did play behind a rotten Oline.
Coach Tuesday Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 If Alex Smith can be re-built into a servicable QB, there is hope for Trent.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Guy always was a training camp superhero. I just think he got paralyzed under live fire, which explains why he keeps getting chances. He probably is an upgrade from VY in the locker room. Not so much on the field...
Bronc24 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 They won't get to kick his tires.....he'll be afraid of them coming and check down way before they ever get close to him.
mob16151 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 They won't get to kick his tires.....he'll be afraid of them coming and check down way before they ever get close to him. My thoughts exactly.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Perfect fit, seeing as the Eagles throw 30 3-yard passes every game.

Turning someone into a backup QB isn't much of a gift. Turning a mediocre starter into a crappy backup is more indicative of Reid's skills. Eagles have to draft a QB this year. Vick is not a full season QB and won't last much longer due to his fragility.
CardinalScotts Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 link considered ? by who...no wonder Reid couldn't get things righted. His evaluations apparently are questionable at best, there is a reason he wasn't on a roster last year despite the high number of quarterback injuries and STILL no one touched.
TheBrownBear Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I still sort of feel bad for Edwards. There was a moment in time where it appeared he had what it took both physically and between the ears. Then he got crushed by Adrian Wilson and that seemed to take the fight out of him. Life is all about what you do after getting knocked to the ground. Trent seemingly chose to lie down.

Adam Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I hope he succeeds, much like Donte Whitner- Please notice how he is playing, now that he is in a football town. Just like when he was in Columbus, he is playing in a championship game.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 link Wow!? Young must really be regressing. Watch Reid turn him into a great backup, get 2 firsts for him and then flop at his next starting job. I hope he succeeds, much like Donte Whitner- Please notice how he is playing, now that he is in a football town. Just like when he was in Columbus, he is playing in a championship game. So San Fran is a better football town than Buffalo  Whitner hasn't played any better there than he did here; good hits, average tackling and getting burned twice a game for TDs.

Now you wouldn't be saying its a talent differential would you? It can't be- we have Roscoe Parrish, doggone it!!

If you said he played for a better football team then I would have agreed with you but to say that because a town is a better football town and that's why he is playing better is ridiculous.
