Acantha Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Holy crap! Amazing game (unless you like defense).
San Jose Bills Fan Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Davis is A MAN. And Alex beat the coverage with that zinger.
Bob in STL Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Can we draft so TE? Nice to see Greggggggo lose. Dante is on a roll
NoSaint Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 Davis is A MAN. And Alex beat the coverage with that zinger. Harper trying for the shoestring tackle instead of staying over the top on the long run is what really killed. Would've been overtime atleast.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I think this Saints team is better than the one which won the Super Bowl. Too bad for them they didn't secure home field advantage. It made all the difference today. A great team which won't make it to the Super Bowl.
Mike in Syracuse Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Looks like Smith and Davis are going to save Whitner's ass. I don't see either of these teams beating the Giants or the Packers.
Playoff Bound Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Glad to see Whitner still tackles like he did in Buffalo. He wiffed on the last two Saints TD's. Go Niners!
NoSaint Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 Bah. Atleast through downfield and hope for a flag to get you halfway and the game. I hate the screen and 12 lateral play. San Fran pass rush won the game big, and the saints two biggest weaknesses (tackle and covering a TE) bit them big! Great game though - I enjoyed it a lot despite the loss.

NoSaint Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 No way. Pass blocking suspect. Defense not as good. Take away Brees and they are average. This team is leaps and bounds better. It's nearly the exact same line actually. You clearly watched little of either.
Bob in STL Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Dante beat Greggggggo. I can live with that. Go Bills! This team is leaps and bounds better. It's nearly the exact same line actually. You clearly watched little of either. Was that Super Bowl pass blocking? Stop your excuses. The Saints lost. Without Brees they are an 8-8 team.

Loomis and Payton have done a great job of bringing in lots of outstanding young talent. The Saints have very little age on this roster. I think also that the stats back up the contention that the Saints are better than the 2009 team. But anyways, great football game. I'm pretty sure the Super Bowl winner will come out of the NFC. What a conference this year.
symbiant Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Glad to see Whitner still tackles like he did in Buffalo. He wiffed on the last two Saints TD's. Go Niners! Haha saw that too. He owes Vernon Davis dinner.
NoSaint Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 (edited) Dante beat Greggggggo. I can live with that. Go Bills! Was that Super Bowl pass blocking? Stop your excuses. The Saints lost. Without Brees they are an 8-8 team. 3 of the 5 lineman are the same players. Bushrod was abused by ware, and then an injured freeney in the super bowl. The line was about the same both years, if not better this year. Bushrod was benches twice that season. That team got a ton of breaks, this one didn't. This team was better- that team made a better run. Without brees they are clearly much worse. I'm comparing two Brees led teams here. They got beat today. Fair and square, no excuse. 49ers strengths match up with the saints weaknesses very well, and it showed all day. Edited January 15, 2012 by NoSaint
San Jose Bills Fan Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 (edited) When the Saints won in 2009, they only had to beat Arizona and Minnesota before beating Indy in the Super Bowl. Just getting through the NFC this year is tougher than winning the Super Bowl in 2009. Detroit last week was a better team than the two NFC teams the Saints beat in '09. Three of five on the OL is not the same line and they sure did not look like a super bowl line to me. I admit you know more about the Saints. Still, this team did not get it done.

The 2 probowl guards and the LT are the same. The line is the same or better. The core pieces are the same. Edited January 15, 2012 by NoSaint

The 2 probowl guards and the LT are the same. The line is the same or better. The core pieces are the same. Also the receivers are the same except Jimmy Graham is WAY BETTER than any tight end they've had before. Their RBs are better now too with the addition of Sproles and Ingram. The ONLY player they might miss IMO is Darren Sharper… but Malcolm Jenkins is an excellent player. Better team, just a tougher year.
