DDD Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Oh my Lord . I'm suprised we don't here more of these type accidents. Was remotely thinking about bungee jumping but after watching that I'm out.
BuffaloBill Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 wow it is hard to believe she survived that relatively unscathed ... one very lucky girl.
ieatcrayonz Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Amazing she is alive. It said no serious injuries but she may have some brain damage because she talks funny.
Beerball Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 Amazing she is alive. It said no serious injuries but she may have some brain damage because she talks funny. She's Austrian (you know, the land down under).
DC Tom Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 wow it is hard to believe she survived that relatively unscathed ... one very lucky girl. Looks like the cord snapped near full extension...which means that for practical purposes she "fell" a much shorter distance to the water than the full 360-feet of the jump itself. Which makes it very easy to believe she survived it relatively unscathed...it was a very survivable accident. Still won't catch me doing it, though.
Just Jack Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 That's my biggest fear of doing a bungee jump.
Acantha Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 That's my biggest fear of doing a bungee jump. Pretty sure that's everybody's biggest fear of doing a bungee jump.

Key frames are around 18, 19, 20 seconds... it appears the cord snapped immediately upon receiving a load. Yes, to your point it decreased the length of the fall but had no control what her body position was when she impacted the water, what may have been submerged when she hit, her ability to regain consciousness (she said she blacked out), her ability to swim the current and the fact that the trailing cord did not snag and keep her in a precarious position. I still say she was lucky to have come out of the experience relatively unscathed.
plenzmd1 Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 From the video "The company that runs the bungee jump still maintains it's plunges are safe"
Just Jack Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 From the video "The company that runs the bungee jump still maintains it's plunges are safe" Well of course they would be safe, they'll have a new cord now.
